Horse nervous in traffic, any advice?

Hi Viz Bright pink equisafety with please pass wide and slow! OH in a green vest with me on the LR today and all was well, just walking. We only had one small spook strangely enough when I was off the LR, we were nearly back at the field and it wasn't traffic related. As our ride was so successful and I am off work for 2 weeks OH and I plan to do more of the same, nothing different as the minute she has a negative experience it sticks like poo to a blanket :( and she is tense from the off next time which then escalates far too quickly with even the tiniest thing causing a freak. Once we have sound LR work established I will go back to in hand work, looking at cars etc on my days off. We will get there I'm sure. I described her today as riding a pony with a head full of rabbits in the headlights. With that in mind I'm sure we all know what I'm working with. It would be easier if I was riding the other pony as the Nanny horse as I used to work at a Riding School (OH is new to leading a ninny-pony with a rider although he took my old mare out as a duo when I couldn't ride ) and am able to use a LR to maximum effect - back in the day I had my horse and 2 lead rein ponies with non riders, or a youngster to "keep alongside me" with a slightly more experienced rider BUT my OH is way too tall for my 13 hander as he is over 6ft, and Nanny pony is HIS 14.2 brown boy lol! Roller skates anyone?
