Could you perhaps gather up a bit of the material, fold it over itself at the edge of the neck & put a few stitches through the hem to hold it tighter?
I agree with the points about cost & risk, etc. Problems can be lethal for the mare, so you have to weigh up how well you'd be able to look after her or get her emergency help throughout her pregnancy.
I do, however, understand your emotional point of view I think. A few years ago I was...
I get the hosepipe one too - from the pony & the horse!
Never had the pony pretend to be lame, though she does manage to "fall asleep" when I walk round the corner with the tack, despite usually kicking the wall/standing on things/chewing things only moments before.. Ponies, eh? ;)
KellysHeroes, that is the worst kind of trick she could play on you! :o Could have been worse though I guess - at least you realized she was putting it on! :p
Vodkagirly, I think this'll be the top one :p
FfionWinnie, they sound like real characters! Mine kicks her back leg up when I do her girth.. She never kicks AT me though, or she'd know about it!
attheponies, I get that too! Off the pony & the horse!
I agree with the pony-sense-of-humour thing - my pony definitely has more annoying...
I've always been 95% sure that most of the things my little mare does that annoy me, she does on purpose. People have agreed with me, while others think I'm being daft.
Since having her on box rest due to lami, however, I can safely say I now 100% believe she winds me up on purpose - I can...
As for colour, can you look at what other colours she uses & see what matches or would go with that? Or ask someone else to be subtle & find out for you?
Or even say you're thinking of getting one yourself & ask her what she'd get if she was getting one..? ;)
Hehe.. Good luck :D
I know where your OH is coming from. But I knew a woman a few years ago who overturned her 2 horse trailer, which resulted in one horse falling out of the opening above the ramp at the back & out onto the road. The other was stuck in the trailer on it's side until they could work out how to get...
Mnmnm, I'm glad to hear you have such a good success story :)
I have considered points made by different people & I think I've decided what I'm going to do with her. Though of course, this does depend on how she reacts when we first try her out again.
I think I'm going to keep my half-acre...
Suppose I could keep some fencing aside & strip graze these paddocks further if/when there is a boost in grass..?
Really don't want to fetch in all the time in summer. Neither are keen on it, lami mare is worse. She puts up in winter but can be difficult to turn out & as soon as she feels it...
