How do you search for livery??

I'd second asking on here. I also just did Google searches of 'livery + the area I wanted', Preloved, word of mouth and just asking at likely looking places.

What breed of horse do you have and why

I have a thoroughbred. Why? Because we were looking for a 15/15.2 cob type of course. But this guy was just down the road so we thought we might as well look at him on the way somewhere else. No-one has ever told him he is a thoroughbred, he was bred to race, but on the training yard they...

    Something so simple

Oh cool mix, I know how you feel. Last weekend I moved yards, from somewhere I'd been for about 4 years (so not quite 20 like you!). Last Sunday I actually had tears in my eyes when I turned my boy out with his new friend as I realised that all the crap had been left behind. The hacking is...

Mary King about to go, BBC red button

She was bloody lucky, he nearly fell right on her. Hope they're both ok.

Mary King about to go, BBC red button

Thank you, I was just bemoaning the lack of anything on the telly, I always forget about red button!

Current Condition and Winter Feeding Plan

He looks well, similar to my boy. A couple of years ago I was feeding a very complicated package of mix, fibre, supplements etc etc and decided to make a change. I feed an all in one feed now, Winergy Equilibrium Condition and have been very happy with it. Last winter I just increased the...

how away is your yard from home

We've just moved. The last yard was just over a mile away, and we are no 5.2 miles away, but on part livery, so only need to go once a day (once he is settled). There are huge benefits for me--quieter yard, better grazing, school (with decent lighting), hacking and a small XC course in a huge...

    Supplements for joints/flexibility/mobility

That's really helpful gill84, thanks. I was wondering how much difference there was between all of them, and that's what is so confusing!

Dressage people, do you hack in your dressage saddle?

I have a treeless Saddle Solutions dressage saddle and use it for everything-- dressage, hacking, jumping (not very high admittedly). It is just so comfortable for me and my boy its not worth trying anything different!

    Supplements for joints/flexibility/mobility

My horse is 15 and not showing any particular stiffness/lameness but I am considering starting using a supplement before he does, if that makes sense? He's a thoroughbred (but nobody has ever told him), 16hh, worked lightly 5/6 days a week (light schooling, hacking, jumping maybe once a month)...

    Rubber matting??

I have rubber matting, but also have quite a big bed on top, of chopped rape straw. I tried using very little bedding and he was just filthy all the time, so I went back to a bigger bed. The rubber goes right up to the door, but I have the bedding further back, so he has somewhere comfortable to...

Big head = Big hat = mushroom effect. How is this avoided?

I have a Champion Ventair Jockey Skull Deluxe for my big head. It is comfy and not mushroom-like, but I had to try on many to get the right one. This is the one that is best for me.

Feeding advise for a poor-doing idiot horse!!

I use Winergy Equilibrium Condition with my boy, a thoroughbred who drops weight easily and who don't really need much more 'get up and go'. He does very well on it, I just adjust the amount depending on the time of year.

    COLIC - desperate for help

I had an awful 18 months or so with my horse and impaction colic. I think we had about 6 episodes and he went into the vet's each time, for IV fluids, liquid paraffin, pain killers, etc etc. Never, at any time was it suggested he was PTS. We never found the cause, although we are now very...
