Planning on starting my 1st homebred this week! EEEK!

She has basically just had time to mature physically and mentally, she is my 1st homebred hence i wanted to make sure i get it right. During her life so far she has been a nanny to newly weaned youngsters, and just a general member of the herd that i have :-)

Thanks, I am not part of a RDA as i dont know if i am eligible etc without some sort of classification? i have my own horse so wouldnt be wanting to go to one weekly for lessons etc. Blind sport said they would try and get an idea if i could be classified or not, but i haven't heard back from...

    FAO: Yard owners

The amount of yards that do it is horrendous! We run our yard by the book and i cringe when people tell me what their YO's charge for wormers! Wormers can only be sold by a licenced person, ie someone who has been on course by AMTRA and becomes and SQP ''Suitably Qualified Person" is the...

    FAO: Yard owners

We buy in as gave up making our own as by the time we had paid a contractor, it wasnt much cheaper! We mark it up by 25p a bale - not much considering we move it, store it, etc. We buy quality rather than the cheaper stuff hence cant mark it up too much as then it would be overpriced compared...

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

But they do object to being in isolation around here as no-where makes anyone :( We have a seperate field with large shelter but it still makes people not want their horse in that way as 'they havent got anything!' the worming policy is that ALL new arrivals are treated with Pramox when they...

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

i know i mentioned it to a livery this evening as i was moving an electric fence for her and we were talking fences - i have a collie cross who can clear 5ft easy and a little one who would go through sheep netting, so i am thinking some form of taller chain link style fence would maybe be...

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

TBH we rarely have strangles in the area, only a couple of times in 30 odd years have any of the larger yards had it. We have been running a yard for nearly 17 years and never had it. You would probably have to be in our local area to know how the horsey 'scene' works here but it operates very...

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

if they have their own stewards that is interesting but again, sadly i dont think that is something the landlord would be happy with :(

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

Now i do have quite a few shetland ponies from my youth and for my children, all of which are wonderful around children but i can imagine the insurance for pony parties would be through the roof. We already have a few places around us that do the tack sales etc but it is def an option once the...

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

Do you know what kind of fence they have Kaylum - height etc? Fun Times - with your dog if you had chance to use somewhere like this what fence would be your ideal? Thanks again all :-)

    Different Income Streams for Yards?

Car boot and caravan storage would be out as we rent the facilities (have done so for 16 or so years) but i dont think the landlord would approve of those options. I also wondered about if any of the local dog walkers would be interested in a 'dog proof' paddock. Years ago at a yard i was...

Getting Classified for RDA / Para with eyesight issues - anyone?

thanks it seems i would could go for 2 assessments - one with the usual ones who do the assessments for mobility etc and then another for the eyesight from blind sports, but then the 2 cant go together :/ i was advised to go with the one which will get me into the best classification but no-one...
