Another OFOH horse for sale - Poppy

If the description was accurate I think £8000 seems about right (considering she is a bit of a celebrity!)

    Embarrassing poop incident!

We went for a gorgeous hack today during my long lunch break, was happily mooching along a road with a hugeee long queue of traffic behind me (including the groom from my yard) all giving me evils. Horse decides to stop right there and then to do his business - right in front of a bus stop...

    Shavings V straw

Everybody seems to be raving about straw - but I prefer shavings! The pony I used to loan was on straw and although it looked lovely it was smelly and he had an awful cough. My horse is on shavings + rubber mats and it is clean, plus I feel that I can breathe when I go in the stable! However...

    Yard owners

Horsey as I don't consider myself experienced enough to deal with emergency situations, and I want the best care possible for my horse. They are also useful for riding problems.

    REARING

Heya, I can really understand where you are coming from, having totally lost my confidence in jumping about a year and a half ago. What worked for me was very gently pushing my comfort zone - i.e. going over a ground pole. For you I would suggest just ride your mare a few times around the...

    How do you feed hay?

I dislike haynets, because of the problems they cause with teeth, back, neck and breathing. Also because they are dangerous. So my boy eats off the floor!

Can a random 'routine' affect horses?

I prefer a routine for my horse, however in a more general way I know some endurance riders do not give their horses a routine on purpose so that they better cope with weird feeding times on long rides. A completely different situation obviously, but just an example of how horses can cope with...

How much do you pay for lessons?

My instructor is a very good friend of mine, so only charges me £15 and hour for a private lesson on my own horse. At the local riding school it would be £18 for half an hour group, that's all I had so I'm not sure about other types of lesson.

    Cashel Soft Saddle

Me and instructor looked into these when I didn't have a saddle but I was unimpressed. For starting a young horse they are possibly quite useful, but they do not have the support of other saddles and are just basically bareback pads.

How do you afford your horse(s) ?

Work evenings and weekends as I go to college. Mum pays for the insurance and my phone contract but I pay for everything else. I ticked the pot noodles box!
