I asked this very question on the BE Forum earlier this year & they replied but did not actually respond to or try to answer the question. It would be great not to have to travel circa 3hours to begin your season in March.......
Unless individuals have been to the yard recently then it is not fair or appropriate to comment.
I have been there recently and the ample facilities as well as selfless help & support offered daily deserves some rather positive recognition in my book.......
Faith is RESTORED. We went to Broadway yesterday & did a nice test and our mark was.......26.5.
Just wanted to post with the aim of letting people know that Calmsden was definately a bit of a 'freak of nature' in dressage marking terms.
I feel Sooo much better! Good luck to all in your final...
My dressage sheet arrived in the post today. Bearing in mind that alothough I was given a BAD score, it was still at the top end of section (6th or 7th after Dr)......and one of the better tests she marked all day.......well.......it was AWFUL.
She wrote an essay in the final comment - with...
I was also in Section G & also got slated in the dressage! My horse has a consistent dressage record at Intro & PN tests, ususally low 30's or high 20's. He did a lovely test, accurate & fairly expressive - all my 'support crew' were doing thumbs up at the end & it 'felt' like a really good...
Dauntsey sounds like it will be a good benchmark for you both. It is 'ditch city' - for the past 2 years there have been 4 fences on the course with massive ditches in front or underneath them. Its a good course though - big & bold but generally un-technical.
I hope you enjoy it!
I have exercised induced asthma and I event. I take blue inhaler before & after XC round which makes it bearable! If its particularly hot or my horse pulls badly I end up sounding like a dememnted sea lion (I blended in really well at Longleat!)....
I had similar problem at the same fence so I do sympathise - it was a real test! My boy caught a toe on part 'a' which swung his quarters up to the left meaning he landed with his shoulder heading right & with only 1 stride to part 'b' we just couldn't recover in time. A frustrating 20 pens...
I am also a fan of Shipton Moyne. The second water on the PN course last year was log stride, into water then log out. Course beautifully built but is compact & no big galloping stretches, so time usually tight. It was one of my favourite events last year.
I think your advert is really good and I have to say that I think your horse is STUNNING - if only I could afford another one, he would be just what I would be looking for (I currently have one ex-race horse!).. All the best - I hope things go more smoothly for you after all the top advice on...
Another vote for Julia Garrett at Garretts Saddlers. She really cares about making sure the saddle is right for the horse rather than just taking your money & pushing whatever she has in stock or is currently flavour of the month. On the flip side my experience of Equicraft was the opposite.
