    Scintigraphy - positive stories

My dales pony has had it done. He just wasn't right behind but wasn't lame enough to get anything conclusive from nerve blocks etc. It highlighted the very first stages of arthritis in his hocks and also had a slight uptake on the sacroilliac. It was honestly the best thing we could have ever...

    Dead sheep people - washing

Before I put mine through the washing machine I rub in a small amount of human hair conditioner all over the wool. Also leave to air dry I dont put it on a radiator or in the tumble dryer. To get rid of the lumpy gently brush it with a slicker brush (you can get them from any pet shop for dogs)

    Mare pooling fluid

We had this with my sisters mare 2/3 years ago we ai'd and she retained fluid vet did exactly same as yours and she didn't hold. What we ended up doing last year after 2 years of different approaches and no joy was scanning constantly until exactly right then covering once (this point we were...

The Lesser Reported Cob Does Dressage

He looks lovely you can't beat a proper cob but I don't envy you keeping all that white clean. Well done though on your score.

What do you do to keep your horse 'on the road'?

Well I've got 2 opposites to say they are both Dales ponies. My 7 year old has had to have his hocks injected (fingers crossed he'll only need it the once) and has a joint supplement, codliver oil in his feed with 24/7 turnout. He also is banned from mix as it makes him very stressy so it's just...

Dales ponies in the show ring

I have 2 dales ponies that I show mostly at local level but have bitten the bullet and had a go at county level on occasion. I do think people can get set to their breeds just ignore everyone else and have fun. One of my little irrational pet hates is the breeds that pull manes as to me m&m...

    Rising four year olds- pics!

Lovely to see everybodies babies growing up. This is my Dales mare Pait her first time under saddle in the summer. Since she's just been doing a bit of light walk, trot schooling with occassional hacks but she has had the last month off due to losing her baby teeth. This pic was taken the...

Fantastic Frickley. A very sweaty double BE report!

Well done with both of them, another person here that is a Pickle fan. Frickley looks like a nice course.

Should dogs be banned at major events? What do competition riders think?

I don't think dogs should be banned but do agree with on the spot fines for off lead dogs. I'd also ban leads over a certain length. A dog on the end of a flexi lead can be just as out of control as a loose dog imo.

Can I see your natives doing dressage?

I do dressage with Dales ponies. Currently have 6 year old who did his 2nd ever test the other week I do find that judges for me have been fair (Rory did find it amusing in a baby way to jump in and out of the arena in canter) My previous Dales Ozzie I did a lot of prelim and had moved up to...

    Super Sunny Sunday Showing

Awe shes lovely and huge congratualtions with your results. For the sewing I keep a couple of the cheap needle threaders in my kit. Usually cost about 50p from any sewing shop and make life so much easier. Also I make sure to keep a few needles handy just in case I lose or break one.

    Hunting: natives

I took the plunge yesterday and took my dales out with our local hunt he's 6 but took it all in his stride and loved it. Was completely mesmerised by the hounds and not at all bothered to have them running round him. This pic was us leaving the hunt to ride home after 5 hours out.
