I seem to remember reading a while ago that the old owner of Sandon Saddlery had died - was that right and also if so is it still open? I live quite a long way away but if I thought it was still open would definitely make the effort to go for a browse!
Even having learnt to ride in the last few years I have done a lot of this... Rising trot without stirrups is a killer... and competitions of who can stand up with their feet in the stirrup leathers for the longest while cantering round - no not forward position - standing up straight- the horse...
I have a nightmare trying to get jodhpurs or breeches - can anyone recommend any brands for someone of 5'7 - with 35inch leg measurement and a 24inch waist/uk size 6. I know I am very lucky but it doesn't always feel that way!
Just a quick point remember with a Pelham if you don't want to use double reins you can put bit roundings on- but the bit won't be quite as strong.( If you have quite soft hands I would really recommend a kimblewick having had a similar sounding pony! )
I am 5'7 and have been regularly riding a 13.1hh welsh pony in a wintec pony jumping saddle which is about 16.5 with no problem. Wintec saddles are good because the seat is quite nice and wide !
As a teenager who only recently sold her first pony ( who sounds incredibly similar to yours!) I believe I can relate to you daughter. I spent the majority of the first year I owned my pony hauling as no one listened to how strong he was telling me just to sit up and pull - which had no affect...
