Safest way to purchase a horse from abroad?

Hi everyone. Thank you for all of the replies and sorry it's taken so long to get back to everyone. We ended up doing it via international bank transfer as that was the preferred method of the seller. Everything is in writing. We've had to pay for the horse outright, before arrival (long...

Safest way to purchase a horse from abroad?

I need some advice. For those of you who have bought horses from different areas or unseen, what is the safest payment method? I know the horse in question so the buying unseen/taking a risk is not applicable but the horse obviously won't be sent until everything, including transport...

    Why'd??

Yes, I think it's definitely worth an ask. Just get in touch and say something along the lines of "Hi X, I hear HORSE is doing really well. Hope you don't mind me contacting you but I've been told he's currently on schooling livery at my old yard and I thought it might be nice to go and see...

Olympia virgin. Best day to go/best place to sit.

As above. I've never been to Olympia and have always gone to HOYS instead- purely from a transport and time of the year POV as tend to be a bit hectic close to Christmas. Anyway, I've missed HOYS this year and last and have decided I'm definitely going to go to Olympia. However, the...

Yet another weight question. 14.1 Haffy cross

I have a 5yo Haflinger x Paint who was broken in just over 2 months ago and bless him, I couldn't be happier with how he is coming on. Unfortunately he has not made the height. His mother was a big Haffy, about 15/15.1 and his father was around 15.2, possibly 15.3. In my naivety, when I...

Apollo, very heavy approx 15.1hh, skewbald gelding

I know he definitely wasn't done by Farmkey as i registered his details with them when I got him. I have a feeling it was done by a defunct company but as he is 16 now, I honestly have no idea as it was his old owner that had him done when he was young. Just an idea. Have you scanned him...

Apollo, very heavy approx 15.1hh, skewbald gelding

The cross does not necessarily mean he was done by Freezemark Ireland. One of my horses has the Freezemark 98+9. I've known him since he was 3yo and the old owner had him from a weanling. He was born in and spent the majority of his life in the north east of England.

Searching for foals by Medbourne Prince

1997 Paint x Cob. Sadly Medbourne Prince (Mickey) has now passed but his old owner is looking to get in contact with anyone who owns any of his 'children'. He would've been in his late teens by now. Interested to hear so I can pass on any information (she doesn't have an account so asking on...

    Christ Lammfelle pads. Please advise.

I'm looking at buying a Christ Lammfelle premium pad and I would be planning to use it with stirrups, for hacking and the odd bit of schooling. Are the half trees of any use when it comes to lessening possible pressure from the stirrup bars? They state the only benefit is to enable you to mount...

    Horse running off whilst leading...

I've got one that does this. He came to me having already learnt this behaviour and when he first arrived, it was dangerous. He'd run off without a second thought and would happily plow over whoever happened to be standing in the way at the time. The only thing I have found works, is a...
