I had a mare who had to be in front of she’d jump on the back of the horse ahead of her. Honestly, she did get a bit better about it when she got to her mid-twenties but I just made sure she stayed in front.
Fortunately for me she didn’t have a spook in her and never napped. I’d do anything to...
I think the issue is, CDJ is not really doing anything differently in her riding than she’s always done. It’s just that now it’s being scrutinised because of the incident and the ban.
She’s always ridden them that way- with a death grip in the hand and the leg constantly wanting more.
The same...
She’s been on and off lame on the left hind since the Autumn and been under the vets. She is fine if she does normal walks and doesn’t run too much, but if she chases a ball or has a mad run, she’ll be on 3 legs for the next few days. Then it settles down again. Under vet advice we’ve tried...
Looks like Bess needs surgery on her cruciate ligament.
What’s the recovery look like for this? She’s a very lively, busy body type of dog who lives for her exercise and we are dreading it 😞
Experiences welcome. She’s a corgi x cockapoo but basically looks and acts like a terrier.
Yes. I had two viewings on a lovely 5 year old coloured gelding- cob cross sports horse.
There was a few little niggles with him that made me eventually say no- he got very tense when you went to dismount and his head would shoot up and he’d threaten to run backwards. He also didn’t give me...
Unfortunately this just isn’t true. There are those of us who have worked our backsides off since leaving school (I worked all through my degree aswell- plus had 3 horses at the time) regularly do 6 day weeks, and still barely scrape by at the end of the month.
There’s really no incentive to...
I was told by multiple professionals that Polly was ‘naughty’ and needed riding through it.
I insisted on a scan and she had PSD. Mild but chronic.
She didn’t exhibit anywhere near the behaviour on this video.
The things people will excuse when it’s a ‘name’ is very disheartening.
If that video had been posted by a random rider, under the title “Need some advice about this horse”, the replies would have been vastly different.
I tried Beddown Excel on top of straw pellets and been pleasantly surprised. A bag goes a very long way. Now at the weekends, I’m currently putting a bag of pellets down (wherever I’ve dug out any wet) and a bag of BedDown Excel on top. That is lasting a whole week with me simply poo picking...
It really saddens me to think what’s going on in arenas all over the world by professionals. I think part of the problem is that they put everything down to them being fit, hot competition horses.
Also rather maddening is the amount of people who are straight away there to climb up the backside...
To be fair, Harlow rides a dam sight kinder than some professionals out there who are lorded as being the best in the world. From what I’ve seen, I’d rather be one of her ponies than a dressage horse in the hands of CDJ.
We had a few years of fava bean crop grown on our fields. They wait til the pods go black and look dead before they harvest them. We get loads of dog walkers who use the footpath asking why we let the crop go bad 😂
Chunky monkey.
I have a Chunky Monkey dressage saddle for Millie and it’s incredible. Doesn’t budge an inch, is so comfortable and Millie goes really well in it.
