Thank you all for your comments. He lives out 24/7 (saying that he never does much more than a walk in his field but at least he's moving!) I do believe everything is connected -the reluctant behaviour hacking and in the paddock - and there has been no changes in his routine between summer and...
Schooling is a nightmare at the moment. Warming up consists of bolting around the paddock and spooking at his own shadow. He drops his shoulder and bucks. The only time he settles is when I let him pop over a jump which he loves doing for a cob
I was looking at getting someone out to him, for reschooling as such but didn't know what would be best having the work done at the yard or sending him away for some time
Had his back, teeth and general health all checked when these problems started then I got the behaviourist out, tried to cover all avenues hoping to find the problem. We had an incident with a. Friend and her horse two years ago while hacking which sadly she her horse being PTS while we were...
Hello, looking for some advice. Had my horse 7 years and we would hack alone all the time with no problems. To start with I had to walk him in hand down our lane to where we could go and hack to the woods and gradually worked to leaving from the yard. However in the past 5 months I cannot hack...
Vet is coming out Friday and here is a much better photo. Doesn't seem to be causing any discomfort but he has sweetitch and is very itchy on his face so I am wondering if he has done this while scratching
Thank you I will be contacting the vet I was just looking to find out if any had something similar. It's not the change of eye colour where this is occurring it's more to the side of the eye colour. I am trying to see if I have a photo as it isn't the easiest thing to get a photo of
Over the last few months I have noticed a slight change in my horses eye. He has dark eyes but when he looks to the right and moves his left eye there is a small link dot that has appeared like a slight change of pigment. I can only describe it as sitting on the side of his coloured lense just...
He has to wear a sweetich rug so I'm not sure how the current passes through to him. I did watch him once literally go onto his knees and crawl under the fence so it only hit his bum and when the fence hit him he shot off. I thought that would stop him but he done it again infront of me. The...
His field is on a path which leads to houses but from what I know the people/children are past the stage of feeding the horses as they have been there for so long now.
He's not on any supplement's at the moment for his sweetich, he's been managing great with a rug and neem oil this year
He has lived in the same field, with the same horses, same daily routine (pretty much to the minute), same feed for the past 5/6 years. I cannot seem to pin point what's changed to reflect this difference of behaviour. Due to living out 24/7 I originally put his behaviour down to the cold and...
Yes he lives with two other horses. The three of them are inseparable in the field but he only seems to be the one that breaks through the fences and gets caught!
