    stonor

we were there today, and the ground was fabulous! Best going so far this year.... A few slightly mudier bits on the XC, and they had taken out a water jump as it got too deep - and moved the dressage arenas. They didnt even hve to tow lorries in or out - amazing given the weather we have had.

Piggy French and Oliver Townend Tack Theft

Postcoding is only any good if the police bother to contact you when the tack is found. Our saddles were postcoded - but when they were stolen and found locally in a wood within 24 hours (thieves must have panicked and dumped them) they then sat at a local policestation for 2 weeks and we were...

New BD site - free adverts

Not sure if everyone has noticed - but BD are currently offering free advertising in their Classified section on their site. Still not got as many categories as they need really, but people are advertising saddles etc in Property. They seem to be getting plenty of hits, so could be a useful...

    tack insurance??

I ended up insuring my horse just for 3rd party cover etc (about £70 pa) and insuring tack as well, with Petplan. They would cover as much tack as you wanted - you paid extra depending on how much you wanted covered.

    solitaire horseboxes?

They are in Leire in Leicestershire. They built a lorry for us a few years ago - we supplied the chassis and they built the back on it for us. Did a really nice job, kept to schedule, and were very good to deal with. They are obviously not the same finish as Oakley etec - but v reasonably priced...

boots to wear with half chaps

Ariat Devon Pro And when the zips go - which mine seem to have regularly - make sure you send them back to where you bought them and Ariat are very good about replacing them with new ones

    mattingley

Bet Mattingley are panicking about the ground! Last year there was torrential rain, and they managed to run the first day but not the second I think the cross-country actually rode fine in it - bu the lorry park was a quagmire!

    olney saddlery

Sadly, I dont think the service is anything like as good now it is part of Derby House - I ordered 3 items a while ago - one can promptly, one took a month - and one never arrived at all. They often dont stock what is in their catalogue, so order when they get orders - hence the long delays. I'd...

    Foreign Exchange

Strangely, I just noticed in this months Eventing magazine that it is one of the horses who are going to the test event in Hongkong this summer, with Terry Boon. (Personally I cant imagine why anyone would want their horse to go to Hongkong to be a guinea pig in all that heat, however well they...

    Possible Senior GB Eventing Team

I agree. The best dressage of the brits was Ruth with Two Thyme - who would consistently expect to be in the top few after dressage in any company, so means they have everything to go for this season.

    Chatsworth

Looks as if Chatsworth could be a great event this year - most of the top riders who withdrew from Badminton look as if they are hoping to run their Badminton horse there instead... And being further north, chances are, the ground might be reasonable by next weekend.
