Would you draw up a contract with someone who was going to rent a stable and field from you? If so, what would you put in it?? Any help and advice greatfully received :)
Hi, I keep my horse just down the road from Funtington village ( I am assuming you mean in West Sussex??)
it is a lovely area, right at the foot of the South Downs so loads of hacking off road. There is a lovely pub in the village, it's very quiet and lots of quiet lanes to hack around.
I...
Cee Cee, if i was you i would weigh out how much feed your horse is having per meal to determine whether you could just increase his current diet (without needing to add the Alfa A Oil in). If you are already feeding topline cubes and linseed these are conditioning so you might just need to...
Some horses do react to alfalfa because a product like Alfa A Oil has the same energy level /calories as a conditioning feed such as Baileys topline cubes...so when you feed the 2 together you get a lot of energy!!
The rep was right to recommend Alfa A Oil for weight gain because it is the...
Alfa A molasses free is pure alfa with a soya oil coating and so is 11.5mj/kg of energy, compare this to Hi Fi lite which is 50% straw and 50% alfalfa with a low sugar coating and is 7.5mj/kg of energy.
Neither is "heating" as fibre is a slow release energy source as it is digested in the...
Thanks guys for your help, i would never have thought to advertise on NFED or via a local uni.
Star, I am based near Funtington (near Emsworth, Hampshire).
I have had a nice message on here from somebody interested in riding her so fingers crossed!

would be interested or know of anyone who would be interested in competing my TB mare over the winter? (hampshire/west sussex border)

However after a week to think about it i have decided to go back to my old instructor for lessons as when i had...
I just wanted to post on here to see if anyone can offer me words of comfort and advice?
I have finally decided to sell my mare after 5 years of battlling with my confidence...and its breaking my heart:(
In a nutshell, she is a lovely horse, nice paces, nice manner, good on the road with...
You could try swapping the fast fibre for alfa beet which is higher in calories but still low sugar and starch (laminitis trust approved). I have used it very succssfully to help with weight gain :)
Am working Saturday, then have my first RC clinic on Sunday with my girlie! Can't wait as its been 7 months of bringing her back to full work following her operation and stifle and back problems at Xmas
oh..yeah and trying to fight the boyfriend for the remote so i can watch the eventing...
Alfa A oil is great for adding calories/condition...it is 12.5mj/kg of energy so equivalent to things like conditioning cubes in calorie terms but Alfa A oil is MUCH lower in starch (this is what fizzes horses up!)
it is only 4% starch compared to some conditioning mixes/nuts which can be...
I forgot to add... that the surgery has definately helped my girl despite her still locking sometimes she is 100 x better than before.
After some physio and lots of gradually fittening work she is feeling much better and we have our first lesson of the year this friday!
My tb mare has a locking patella, i've had her since she was 5, she's 10 now. She was vetted and the vet said she will grow out of it, unfortunately she never did. She has very upright confirmation which doesn't help.
I opted for surgery for my mare as she ended up with a sore back and was...
