How much would you pay for a 19yo horse?

We loaned a 19yo ex eventer. Stayed healthy and ridden to 26. Think that might be exception though. Haven’t read the comments.

    Sharer

I never used to charge people for exercising my horse. Apart from the fact they were doing me a favour by keeping my horse fit, I didn’t want any kind of obligation to them. If I had decided that it wasn’t a suitable arrangement for whatever reason I could just step away from them. I...

    where do you

Down the side of my boot. Easy to reach down and pull out to use, won’t get dropped or lost and if I came adrift I’d still have it on me.

How long did it take you to 'get over' PTS?

I’m 12 months down the line after having my horse pts for a medical reason. I thought I was prepared. I tried to make it ok for everyone where I thought she might fall. I thought she might buckle at the knees and pitch forward or fall stiffly and hard to either side. Horrible either way but I...

Am I the only person not clapping.....

I’ve clapped every week for all frontline and key workers. I’m very rural with just a few near neighbours over a field. The first week I clapped by myself ... I’m good with that. It was my personal appreciation and I care not a jot about being heard by anyone else. The second week and...

    Coronavirus and money

Strip grazing could be an option for people turning their horse away to save costs if they have concerns about laminitis etc.. It’s a good idea to save money on shoes by going barefoot and quite a significant saving. Of course it will have an impact on farrier income but if it’s a case of being...

    Leaking PE rug

I had a Rambo Duo leak at the seams after the first heavy rainfall. Was difficult to resolve as the shop I bought it from was trying to put the onus on me to deal with Horseware direct. Not happening!! Eventually got a refund after I quoted the law and threatened to report them. So annoying...

Essentials for a horse which has gone from stabled to 24/7 live out

Was it Switch? I used that but my horse reacted to it.

    4x4s that are not AWD

I had that problem with mine. Replaced two tyres and driving home felt like I had fitted square wheels. Had to replace the other two tyres. After that I rotated them every few thousand miles for even wear and replaced a full set at a time..... costly!!

A land/grazing how much and other questions

The footpath would put me off completely. Especially as walkers have had free rein before. I wouldn't want people coming to see my horses with fruit and treats.

    Bolting Horse

Mine did that three times. Not nice! Scary and undesirable. I went to a gallops so it was a safe environment and practiced canter to gallop and back to canter transitions. So far so good and this was a few years ago now. If I'd been tanked off with the plan was to keep galloping and when she...
