It's been one of those weeks! Feel like giving up!

You put your finger on it.......Winter! :( Not enough light, too much mud, sharp ponies eeeuuuugh. Once that morning arrives, and it won't be long now, when you can actually smell spring it will all start to look different.......promise :)

    Recently Gelded Horse-Advice Please

He has bred at least one foal from quick online research. I shall definitely be asking questions about why he was gelded.

    Recently Gelded Horse-Advice Please

Thanks everybody. The horse is specifically described at suitable for 'child or small adult' and ' lovely in stable and easy to do', I agree good to handle is relative lol :). He is in Cornwall. Your answers reflect what I suspected, namely there is no hard and fast rule and he is probably worth...

    Recently Gelded Horse-Advice Please

Dear All, I've been looking for a horse for a friend who because of a breakdown in confidence with her current horse (long story but neither of their faults) has decided it is time to move on to a new partnership. She learnt to ride as an adult but is a capable rider and is confident around...

Micklem bridle advice and success stories please

Micklem bridles certainly get my vote for all the reasons noted above. The only thing I would add is that you because of the way the bridle is configured you can't use bits with a small ring ie full cheek bits. I think they do mention this somewhere on the website. I have tried on mine and you...

    Shampoo: human or horse

Fairy Liquid is fine, definitely NO other washing up liquid as they do have all sorts of nasties in them, but Fairy Liquid is simply liquid soap with nothing else in it.

    Caroline Creighton clinic

I agree she is great. Have a dotty TB who is great competing xc but silly and fizzy schooling, she was very supportive and didn't make me feel like at idiot because my horse goes into melt down if the last to go. She was also great with the other people in the group who each had their own...

    A REAL dressage test...;)

You have all made me very happy, especially with first test for 6 months looming on Sunday, I really really really thought it was just me and psycho pony who did freestyle dressage lol

    Panama sport horses

A quite novicey friend of mine from Kendal is selling her first horse, she wants to find a really nice home as quick as poss and is thinking of sending him to Panama on selling livery. What was your general impression of the yard when you were there? Not sure if you are allowed to post this sort...

Does anyone else have a Houdini pony?

Only thing is this rug doesn't have elastic leg straps/surcingles, belly straps but I can only imaging he must somehow manoevre the rug forward and step through, i'm still amazed by this feat of escapism!!! lol

Does anyone else have a Houdini pony?

I fear you are right BOF, it had been pretty cold the night before and think my brain slipped into neutral, ho hum, BUT that may be the why but still don't understand how.

Does anyone else have a Houdini pony?

So, good night check at 9pm last night at which time full neck under rug and stable rug (no neck) all in position. 7am and stable rug on floor, all buckles and surcingles done up as they had been last night just no longer on pony. Pony at home so no chance of someone with warped sense of humour...

Definitely go for it, you'll have a great day! The following link on the BE website may help it runs you through what to expect on the day which is pretty much the same whether you are doing BE or unaff. http://www.britisheventing.com/page.asp?section=749&sectionTitle=The+big+day...

    fantastic elastic reins

I have used them for about a year on my boy who is very tricky and fussy on the flat. I would say they do work very well especially if you have a horse who has trouble maintaining a steady contact. In our case at least the elasticity seems to encourage him to accept the bit and take the contact...
