Out on a walk I passed a lovely clear water trough for horses which had some plants growing in it, I guess oxygenating plants.
The water in my trough goes green very quickly. Does anyone have plants in their trough, and what sort. I guess they would have to grow without any soil.
As the title says, each year my 23 yr old gelding does not like to be touched as the weather gets worse. He is fine the rest of the year.
Nothing changes about his routine except he moves from grass to haylage.
I thought arthritis but the vet doesn't agree.
Does anyone else have anything similar?
Can anyone recommend some nice quiet hacks in Norfolk where parking is available for trailer. Fed up with riding on the road, too worrying now.
Suggestions gratefully received.
Title says it all really. There were lots of ideas posted during the winter for feeding hay in the field, just wondering how they worked now winter is over. I fed on ground but it was very wasteful and am hoping to have a better system next year.
Good and bad experiences please.
I want to buy my riding instructor a xmas pressie as she has really helped me this year with my confidence. Thought of obvious like chocs or wine but that doesnt seem a big enough thank you.
Any ideas welcome, or do you think she would prefer money.
Can anyone please advise me re feeding haylage.
One horse had to have soaked hay last year for his respiratory issues and vet has advised i give him haylage this year. After trying to research this issue i still have the following questions. He lives out in a herd of three so all three will...
Can anyone please recommend a fly rug which will fit a horse with wide shoulders. Rugs i have tried in the past have rubbed and i have given up and resorted to fly sprays which don't really work.
Is it true, two's company, three's a crowd. Am i likely To have a problem.
Realistically i don't think i could afford 4 and hubby would really take some persuading!!
I currently keep two horses at home, one for me and one for daughter. I do most of the work but enjoy it. I am thinking about retiring my lad because of his health issues but still want to ride.
Is three horses too many?
Will it be too much work?
Your advice/experience/ thoughts welcome.
Why not make your own, wheelie bin and wallpaper steamer. Much cheaper and if you google it you will find instructions how to do it. This is what we did, set it up on a timer and the lovely steamed hay is ready when you need it. Brilliant.
