Help with hands that have a mind of their own

I used to cross my outside hand over the withers on the left rein too, when making corners. Didn't even realise I was doing it until I had a lesson with a classical dressage instructor. To break the habit, every time we went around a corner, I made a conscious effort to open the outside rein...

    Badminton XC!

Re the interview, I think in his own weird way he was trying to be complimentary about Jonelle's horse. People can be terribly thin skinned though, especially if they're already down on someone and looking for other things to criticise them about. I was at badminton and haven't seen the full...

    Eventing in Germany?

Morning all. I am considering moving to Germany for work, and would take my 2 horses along for the ride. Has anyone on here ever lived & competed in Germany? What's it like - from what I have gathered so far (my German is far from fluent) the sport is not so accessible as it is here, but its...

    Ps of Sweden bridle

I've had one for a few months now, not noticed any stretching so far. Fits my horse like a glove and looks pretty good imo :)

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

As he was already 2 and knocking up 16hh already we had a lot of catching up to do lol, so did quite a bit with him. Had some issues teaching him to lead safely but cracked it as a 3yo then took him out into the world in hand which he loved. Backing was a doddle in the end - i knew him pretty...

Bruised bars - bitting suggestions please

He had his teeth done a month or so ago... didn't consider that as a cause. Might get the vet to take a quick peek when he's out for my other horse next week, just in case. I had a myler and a NS, but someone nicked em :/ also one that I can't remember the name of that I used to ride him in. It...

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

I bought a 2 yo from a friends stud, so knew all his history. He was scatty and feral and unhandled :D now he's 9 and absolutely cracking, so I don't regret it for a second. It's a real gamble though, his brother turned into a nutter, so mine could have gone the other way!

Bruised bars - bitting suggestions please

There is bruising on the top as well as the bottom, so assume it's from the bit being too thick rather than contact, as he doesn't require a strong contact. Ideally I'd like a sprenger duo/nathe type in a 12 or 14mm, but they don't seem to exist :( A thinner metal bit would be sharper...

Bruised bars - bitting suggestions please

I noticed yesterday my warmblood cross has bruised bars :( So a new bit is obviously needed, but I'm a bit stumped. He's in a 16mm sprenger kk ultra currently. I school without a noseband, and put a loose cavesson on for competing. I'm happy with how he goes in his current bit, so need...

Bitless bonkers bouncing...rocking the lime green!

Looking fantastic! Is that the eskadron green saddle pad? They have one on display in my local tack shop and I'm so tempted... even more so now :D

    Power phaser - allergic reactions?

Some of the swellings have started to ooze fluid... yuck. Hopefully the antibiotics for his leg will clear it all up! Looks like the power phaser is for the bin, just in case. Was expensive too lol... back to NAF I guess! Unless anyone has any recommendations for good fly sprays for sensitive...

    Power phaser - allergic reactions?

Does your mare react quickly or does it take many hours for the reaction to show? My horse is a bit of a nightmare for things like this, but has never reacted to a spray before. Have you tried a lavender wash or similar for yours? Might be gentle enough. The bedding was from the same place as...
