I messaged Lomond via FB a few times a couple of years ago, but they always responded saying they didn’t have any availability. Hope you have better luck with them!

Seems like HC horses broncing/running away with riders is not uncommon, at least not according this exercise rider's account.
I am sorry to hear this. Her books gave me - and I know many other people - horses like no other books did. Each time I re-read her books, which is a bit less often now than it was, I feel her gift again. I didn't have access to the physical horse world in the way that I wanted to when I was...
That's sad, but I can definitely believe it!
I thought that in horses, licking and chewing were signs of relaxation, not stress - does anyone know which it is (or maybe it's not that simple...)? e.g. I've heard trainers indicate that the horse is starting to relax as he/she is licking and chewing?
Hi, how would you raise with a riding school that you are unhappy about the way that an RS horse/pony was treated in a (not your) lesson? The rider was being instructed to smack the pony she was riding repeatedly and excessively (i.e. a smack 3-4 times each time, not just a flick with the whip)...
Another work-related thread! I'm considering applying for nursing (dual reg so Adult + MH, not sure which one I'd end up in) and know that I'd be working 12 hour shifts for at least the first few years...does anyone do/has done this and fitted horses around it? Are you permanently exhausted or...
I am also in south London, looking for exactly the same thing as you (and @EchoInterrupted) and have the same problems - feel like we should form a club! I’m hoping to get a lesson at Lomond soon though and had a really good lunge lesson at Ham House a couple of years back. It’s a shame to hear...
Thanks everyone for confirming my suspicions! I do feel horrible about it. There does seem to be a culture of this in almost every RS I've ridden in so it doesn't give me much hope for finding a better one. Not sure if it's a recent thing or whether this has always been the case.
From what...
Hi all,
I have recently started riding lessons again after a break at a local RS (Covid-allowing!). Just simple flatwork and working on seat at the moment. As RS horses go they are relatively responsive however we are still told to use the whip at intervals as a 'reminder' if horse is not...
Hi, am looking for recommendations for riding schools in the London or Kent areas that provide good quality flatwork/dressage tuition. Am a relatively experienced rider and would be looking to have a few private lessons on a well-schooled horse.
Sorry, know it's been asked a million times...
