Advice for hacking out please :)

Once mine decides we are going home we ARE going home! I pull his head back round and put my crop on the shoulder just so he can feel it (he always spins on the same rein) once he begins his argument of rearing, stamping feet, swishy tail and grunting I just sit there until he stands still again...

Those of you with combo bandages...

Thank you, I have a set lying around (John Whitaker exercise ones) and thought I may as well use them but wanted to make sure there wasn't a different way of doing them to fleece :)

Those of you with combo bandages...

(As in the half fleece half elastic) How do you wrap them? Straight on the leg or strip down the back of the tendon? Also can you do xc in them (water complex) if fastened with tape and stitches?? Im becoming a convert from polo/fleece as very clever but naughty horse managed to grab them...

I'm looking into the half and half bandages, what are other peoples opinions or should I stick to plain fleece?

Competing in a synthetic dressage saddle.

Mine is the new Wintec GP, my old pony had one so it was the first thing I went for with my youngster and I love it! Would never get a leather unless an absolutely beautiful dressage saddle. New horse is coming with leather saddle which I am not looking forward to cleaning and caring for every...

    Bend- help please!

Same with me, I find two sets of spirals down to about 12m (all we can handle so far without falling over) helps us and he usually pick up the correct lead the second time I ask. I also usually work him in canter on his weak rein first so he isn't anticipating it and doesn't rush/run into it...

    Which Bandages??

Hi all, not sure whether to post this here or in New Lounge so will try here first. I will be bringing home a loan horse for myself to do pony/riding club activities with soon. He is an 11 year old with a splint on his front leg and a rather odd shaped lump on his hind where he had a trailer...

Horse living out for the first time

Thank you all for your replies. He's fully clipped at the moment and with the sunny weather last week I took his MW off and he was in just a sheet for the first time day and night. He is in at night currently as we only have one field of geldings (and they're all stabled) as there are so many...

Horse living out for the first time

Hi all, After 2 extremely stresfull winters with the monkey I have decided that this year it may be time to try 24 hour turnout. Reasons being he is constantly full of energy and always bouncing off the walls to the point where he is in a stallion chain to be led around, he is unsettled in the...

    Obese horse (rant)

Thank you all so much for your responses and support. I never would have expected this. It is extremely sad to see this horse, just today she was left indoors stuffing herself full of haylage (because she likes staying in according to the owner, however the noise coming from her after her food...

    Obese horse (rant)

There is a VERY obese horse on my yard, weve spoken to the owner about it and she seems to do nothing to help, she doesnt ride it (at all), feeds it 2 large holed haynets a night, rugs it up heavily and feeds it hard feed. What makes this story so much worse, the horse is 4 years old. You can...

    Help with Bit choice

My 4 year old chewed his happy mouth to pieces and was at the age where he was begining to learn to carry an outline so we chose the Neue Schule Starter Bit, although expensive at £40 it has worked a dream, his lovely soft mouth has stayed that way, it doesn't rub or pinch, it is shaped well for...
