I lost my horse two weeks ago and she was my childhood dream come true. To be honest, I'm not sure I'll go back, it's lost its sheen for me despite being utterly horse mad all my life. The lows and the long winters, the expense and the heartbreak have been a lot to bear and I don't think I...
Another vote for Bateson from me, they're lovely to tow, no rattles, really well put together and not that heavy. Plus theyre white so they don't get hot.
I would recommend a Bateson all day long. Just sold my much loved Ascot. Fantastic to tow, quiet, light for the size and the horse loved it. Well put together with no rattles. It was fantastic and I cried when it went!
I thought I would just update everyone who very kindly responded to this thread. Rose was put down this morning. The lameness was still evident even on painkillers and she wasn't happy in the field any more. Going to say goodbye to her last night was probably one of the hardest things I've...
Thank you all so much for your kind words, I've got a little time to get my head around a decision. This is one of the hardest things I've ever done and I have to confess I've never felt this low.
I have posted here before about my horse Rose's issues with a torn DDFT which has recurred twice. It's been going on for 2 years and we've tried everything including a spell at Rockley following an MRI and an attempt at remedial shoeing. She came back much better but it didn't last and the...
Yep - horse has been injured for so long I have gone and bought a mountain bike! That is my new passion while she recovers in the field over winter. I don't mind paying for her as she's my buddy but I need something else to focus on. I have no real desire to ride, despite being offered other...
Thank you all, you've reassured me that this is the best way to go. Like YCBM says, I couldn't hope to match the activity she will get at home. And if all else fails, she'll have a lovely last three months.
Thank you so much for sharing, that gives me real hope. If nothing else the break for both of us has to be a good thing! Good luck with the sprog and the competing :)
Thank you, I really hope they can silence the naysayers :)
Thank you, at least I will have done all I can.
Thank you both, that's reassuring. Luckily she has extremely good hoof quality so doesn't struggle on different surfaces, it's the persistent soft tissue injury that just keeps on niggling. I'm going to plough my own furrow and go ahead, the alternative is PTS sadly so there is nothing to lose...
Bit of an odd one but my horse has been lame for months with a small DDFT tear in her foot and a sticky navicular bursa (diagnosed by MRI). She had surgery on it in 2014 and all was well til May last year. She's barefoot but my farrier didn't do a good job (kicking myself so hard) so she ended...
