I have an Acavallo gel out and it's the best thing ever. Super comfy and really helps my keep my seat on my spooky gelding! I've had it for two years and it's more than worth the money.
I have a complete wuss who spooks at his own shadow and I honestly feel that what has helped me to stay on is all the practise I've had over the years! As others have said, I watch his ears but usually I can feel it coming anyway. Again, sit deep, weight in your heels and don't daydream! My...
My gelding is insured with KBIS. He has had both hocks injected for bone spavin, hence after the end of this month they will be excluded - fair enough. However, they have also excluded both front feet as the vet wrote on the initial form that he was also bilaterally lame in front due to long...
I have two, I love them both but for different reasons. My little mare was my first horse and taught me what owning a horse was all about. I've had her for ten years, we've hacked for hours and hours and although she is a stroppy cow, I wouldn't change her for the world. My gelding is a super...
I often listen to music (using the speaker on my phone) when schooling, it really helps me relax and therefore my horse is much more relaxed :) I've never tried matching the music to the paces but I might give it a go!
My martingale strap saves me all the time when my TB throws an extravagant jump! I just hook a couple of fingers round it. I have used a hunting breastplate on a rearer in the past too as it was more fixed than a martingale.
I've been trying to make up a bridle from spare bits and pieces but have run into difficulty - I have a Stubben browband meant for a split headpiece but the headpiece I have is just a standard one. Could I just cut the stitch that makes the browband split or would that be a really stupid idea?
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I got a Cambridge snaffle to try as I've had good experience with them before but although I carefully measured his mouth (twice), it seems a bit small :( Seems silly but I hadn't thought of trying an eggbutt as I have always preferred loose rings, will...
What bit would you use for a 7yo ex-racehorse with a very fussy small mouth but has a large tongue? He has been going in a loose ring French link but doesn't seem particularly happy in it as he constantly chomps and chews at it.
