Hi,
We are in the process of planning a 40x20 arena and trying to negotiate the minefield of surfaces. Traditional sand/fibre surfaces are proving pretty expensive due to our location and access issues (we are in N Devon and cannot get large lorries into the site), but we have seen Carpet...
I've already dug the big plants, the one's I've sprayed are the little rosettes. To be fair, there is still a lot of grass to be had before they need to turn to the ragwort!
We're only leaving it for 2 weeks as the other half needs doing as well. We have 2 acres split into 2, but we're on heavy clay soil with poor drainage so it gets pretty wet, so we can't afford to keep them on one part too long as they will chew it up too much.
So, Operation Sow's Ear is now in full swing, lets hope we can get somewhere near a silk purse!
So, half the rather poor paddock we inherited has been sprayed with Larke (buttercup), Grazon90 (dock) and Barrier H (ragwort). All went well and we've already seen great results. The majority of...
I think I'm going to treat my buttercups with something along the Headland Polo/Thrust, Grazon 90 for the docks and Barrier H for the ragwort.
Now, do you think I'll be able to treat a complete area (about an acre) with all 3 (sprayed seperately, not mixed) and then leave it for 2-3 weeks...
I've no problem with digging it, as there's far less of it this year than last, but I am aware that even tiny root fragments can regenerate. My hope was that roundup (or something similar) would kill the root off as well.
Depends on how you apply it! I've been pretty successful in the garden in targeting weeds without carpet bombing the surrounding areas. Just be really careful to spray just the leaves, not the 6" around it! Then you're just left with the hole you get from digging it ;)
My main thrust was...
Having spent several back breaking weeks last year trying to control the ragwort in our new paddock with a ragfork, I'm keen to try and spray the recurring stuff that's starting to show this year. Would something like Roundup be effective to spot spray, so it would kill off the root system as...
Selective spraying was my thought as well, seeing as the buttercups seem to be in a swathe across one area of the paddock. However, having just checked the Mole valley website, a knapsack sprayer is over £100, compared with £25 on ebay, so I reckon I may have to wait a few days to get on with...
Hi,
Newbie here, so please be gentle!
This is the problem we have in our 2 acre paddock, nearly as much spreading buttercup as grass, with a few docks thrown in for good measure. I've read about spraying and the addition of calcified seaweed, but have a few queries on both.
a, Is it...
