I had posted about having to rehome my ponies as we are moving and can't take them. Well they left yesterday. I found them a lovely home, with a friend of my riding horses original owner. She took both of them so they could stay together.
Well, I am gutted. As I kept them at home it is...
This sounds pretty similar to what happened to me. I was sold a mare for hacking and schooling as being a beginners poney and a saint. The first day I got her home she was ok, pretty chilled out actually. From day 2 onwards she was a nightmare, agressive, bargy, nappy. I would be covered in...
She couldn't understand why I couldn't do it, even with help. And if I had a horse I should be able to inject them as one of their basic healthcare needs.
It depends what we are doing, but either in the field, tacking up area or in her abri ( better for examining eyes). I always hold, I have never tied her up for the vet, only the farrier. Would be interesting to see someone else with her when the vet comes though.
Not much luck with a home...
Yes still in France!! I actually thought we had had a breakthrough this time when the vet came and she was so much calmer. But looking back it was obviously that she was feeling very poorly. I have the vet out for checkups, vaccines and what ever else calls for a vet with her!! There really...
Thanks everyone, feeling better from all your positive comments. Am going to make a written complaint, as it really is unacceptable to judge with no idea of the horses history. Thanks
Yes, sorry. Have reread title and in the anger of the moment but vet, but it was infact the receptionist. I think when the vet comes past to collect the unused medicine I will explain the whole situation.
I have posted about my difficult to handle mare, and needing to rehome her due to moving. Anyway since then she has come down with a chest infection so I had the vet out. I tranquilised her as usual and the vet came and she was actually very well behaved. She even let the vet inject her (she...
I would think people in the South of France would have more money in general and the care would be different. I am in the west of France in a very rural area at the moment, and it seems to be different here. Thanks for your advice as well, I am putting up an ad with a view to having plenty of...
Thanks for all your helpful replies. I am going to have a look at putting an ad on Angloinfo. I have thought it through and am going to put that as I am not in a hurry to sell, as can keep her until the end of the summer, that I am happy for someone to come and spend some time getting to know...
No, unfortunately my OH is not at all horsey and has said in no uncertain terms that we cannot take them. We have had many a row about this, and I have come to the conclusion that I need to put my marriage first.
I ideally want to find a home where she could live out, in company, and have...
Her vices depend on her mood!! In general she will not stay still to be brushed, this has got better over time. but with strangers she would just bang them up against a wall, I was black and blue when I first got her! she also kicks, has double barrelled me once! She barges when leading...
I have a 19 year old mare. She is very difficult to handle but a lovely ride. I have had several vets ask me if she is rideable as she is very aggressive with them!!! So, my problem is that we have to move after the summer due to my husbands work. We will be moving abroad and I cannot take...
