Hoof boots and shod? Silly idea?

Thanks. That is great to hear. I was told I'd need to be careful on hard ground in the future but maybe I am over-reacting. I'm very much hoping we can get back to normal, it just seems quite a big development for a horse so young who has done so little work.

Thanks Auslander, that's kind of what I expected. :-)

Hoof boots and shod? Silly idea?

After intermittent lameness, my 6yo horse has been diagnosed with sidebone in both front legs. X-rays below for those interested, it looks fairly scary to me but then I have had no experience of this before at all. Remedial shoeing, a good joint supplement and rest is the order of the day...

Does this feeding regime sound okay? Sidebone & Lami Issues

Thanks Ester, very helpful :-) They are on this Magnesium - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321333140185 which was recommended on another thread I found. Thanks for the info on Happy Hoof, I will wait for this one to be done and have a look at the other options you...

Does this feeding regime sound okay? Sidebone & Lami Issues

I've always been a bit blasé about feeding extras and have gone with the opinion that I don't feed anything without good reason. I have two good-doers which helps - a 11h Section A and a 16hh ID type. However, my ID has just been diagnosed with significant sidebone in both fronts (full...

New to SE London and looking for a horse to share

Hi Not sure if this is too far from you, but within the next few weeks I will be moving my mare onto full livery at a yard in Orsett, Essex. I live in Hackney, East London and it is a 30 minute drive from there. I'm going to be looking for a sharer for her once there. She's a 16.1 mw ID...

How much to expect to pay for grass full livery in Essex?

Thanks :-) My understanding of a full livery yard specifically for retirement horses was that it is not set up for owners coming and going to ride etc. If I'm wrong then I'd happily look at yards that described themselves as this.

Thanks for these, I have already been recommended Shenley Stud and tried to contact but no reply as of yet from them.

How much to expect to pay for grass full livery in Essex?

Great, thank you both for your responses. The problem I'm sure is finding somewhere that offers 24/7 grazing in the first place in this area, it's becoming very obvious there are very few around.

How much to expect to pay for grass full livery in Essex?

Just looking for a rough idea of what you'd expect to pay for full grass livery in the Essex area? In fact anywhere within an hour or so of Hackney, East London? By 'full' livery, I mean 24/7 turnout with daily check/feed/water etc 7 days a week. No exercising. Not too bothered about other...

Looking for experienced opinions on a horse advertised

I've found a horse I'm very interested in but wanted some experienced opinions on his conformation/movement and if he looks like he is priced right. I won't post the advert and video here but wondered if anyone would be happy for me to PM it to them? Just looking to gain some opinions from...

Moving to Wensley (Nr Matlock) Derbyshire..

I completely forgot about this post, how rude of me. Thanks for the replies, I think I know which yard you're on about at Elton, going to have a look around that area as soon as this blumming weather gets a bit better!
