This is my boy, he's technically 'sheepdog' not border collie...
Been a bit of an up and down experience with him, but in hindsight (that wonderful thing) I should have walked away from him as a (badly bred) puppy. His mum had chewed half his ear off, he'd been removed from the litter and...
Hello all,
My collie has started looking and acting old :( (he's 9 now) and is a bit stiff too. Nothing major but he's not my crazy pup anymore.
What would you recommend as a joint supplement. He's fed eden dog food which has some joint supplements in, but I am going to trial giving him...
oh my! I've just googled. The cross produces some nice dogs, but the majority look a bit odd to be honest. They are big too, much bigger than I had assumed.
Someone on my facebook has just got one. Mental.
I forgot about this thread, logged back in for a quick look and well.....you lot are nuts :D
In the best possible way of course ;) :)
If anyone is interested, after my response posted above this was the reply
'Yes it's a recognised breed , not a pedigree ! , as they have such great...
That's interesting, thank you. I have responded on facebook with this
You've got me stumped there. Where are they acknowledged, I can't find any reference to it? And yes, the american spaniel x poodle has been a popular breed cross since the 60's in America so google tells me. You learn...
ah, but she used the term acknowledged. But even then i can only find reference to it in a 'designer-dogs' article on the kc web page, and to be careful when selecting cross breeds.
Don't want to make an idiot of myself on t'internet but I need to reply on a facebook query with a knowledgable answer.
So, I merely mentioned in a post 'if you do buy a crossbreed (with a new-fangled name) blah blah blah' (it was in a post trying to suggest a rescue pup to a facebook...
If thats regarding the newfie x lab, then yes, i thought the same.
I was a bit surprised they weren't more cynical of the whole situation (don't want to go into on here). They got seriously burned with their last purchase - a choc lab pup who had HD diagnosed, developed some kind of allergy...
My friend just paid £450 for a newfoundland x labrador (accident apparently ). Labrador was the mum too - risky business :(
It's mental what people will pay
Steal away by all means. I just found that I couldn't quite convince my friend that her horses feet would adapt to roadwork, until I said - look, you're feeding your baby girl - your boobs magically know what to do - it's a bit like that. And the more I thought about it, the more the parallels...
