    Cost of Danilon

Go onto Facebook and look up the Turmeric User Group. Turmeric is a side effect free (apart from some thinning of the blood, so not recommended if you are on another blood thinning medication) anti-inflammatory and pain killer that has been shown to be as effective as Bute in some tests (dunno...

Why can't life be simple - feeding hay

I've got porky horses too - and I use small holed nets as well. Don't worry about her not eating enough, if she's hungry she'll persist with the small holes, and she'll eat the hay slowly. I had one (Arab) who literally ate a hole in the small holed haynet - there was a pile of quidded nylon...

    Crippling Nerves!

I downloaded a hypnotherapy mp3 from The Confident Rider - I only listened to it 3 times but it worked for me! I bought another one for dressage competitions as well, which stopped me being sick..... they aren't very expensive so might be worth a try?

    Those who use wood pellets

I use miscanthus pellets rather than wood pellets - you don't need to soak them, and they are lighter (so you get more per kg) and more absorbent than wood pellets. Wouldn't go back to wood pellets now.

    Toothpaste experts please......

I'm only saying what I did, and how it worked. I actually think that in my limited experience the acyclovir cream is the best thing on shallow sarcoids - and it is what I would use in future. Here's a link to a review of evidence-based equine sarcoid treatments...

    Toothpaste experts please......

Update on my toothpaste v sarcoid thread..... Here are the latest photos: I applied toothpaste until it came off/was rubbed off. It only seemed to stick to the sarcoid, and when it came off it revealed fresh pink skin underneath. I reapplied the toothpaste once the skin had turned black...

    Won't walk, tried everything

Catch with a lunge line and lungeing cavesson, and take a lunge whip. Any baulking, lunge for 5 minutes, then ask to walk in normally. Worked with my stroppy TB mare in the distant past, although she had a full lungeing session once before she worked out that she wasn't going to get away with it!

diet that supports barefoot your examples I'm struggling ??

My 4 are all ridden and all barefoot, although the TB wears front hoof boots when he's hacked out on the roads - we have some stoney lanes round us, and he has typically flat TB feet. They all have a horslyx (I know, it contains sugar, but they like them, it keeps them occupied and they...

    Swamp field in Winter

Our 4 were only out during the day and were brought into their boxes at night, but we extended our hard standing and put in a new gate and fencing to the field, then our 4 were confined to the hard standing (which includes access to the field shelter and water trough). We fed hay in small holed...
