What type of muzzle have you got? Would a greenguard help relieve this tension because not really directly attached so tightly to poll?

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Alas.. I am not an investor.. I bought this horse from someone I knew just as a project - I was not looking for a project, nor particularly want one. Even had I kept it - I would have never sold it once it had bolted with me - As stated in first post what if it happened to the next person? I...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

ETA: First owner does not wish to come see him so he will be PTS next week as planned.. kennels will then autopsy him. :)

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Thank you all for such kind replies - he will be put to sleep next week. We have invited his first owner who had him from a foal - 4 years to come and say goodbye if they wish. Once again - I thank you all (bar one :) ) for not being judgemental about the situation and giving me that push I...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Not girthy as such - raises back if you do girth too tight quickly but that's from the cold backed-ness.. otherwise not actually girthy. Like you say.. there is no trigger for this bolting/bucking - he's never done it with me before and there wasn't anything different.. and that worries me.

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

In short and no detail I bought it from someone we know as it looked like a welfare case and was just going to be sold. I knew its talent and said i'd buy it - just to see what happens. I didn't realise how many owners he'd actually had until I looked at said page. :) I actually only contacted...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Sorry.. have you never seen a horse galloping in the field and bucking? This horse was bolting i'm afraid to tell you. Well.. if you must know more detail. One had him professionally restarted.. a couple of people restarted him themself. Two admitted to me they nearly had him pts but decided...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Thank you everyone - you have been very kind. Still thinking over things. Wagtail - I would but at the end of the day it all comes to the same thing - I was never going to keep this horse and I don't feel comfortable selling him ever. I need to think about it all. Bit of a mess still...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Recently bought a pony as a project.. to eventually sell - very talented. 8 years old.. we're 10th owner. Horse been going fine, arrived and got some weight on him, been a perfect horse to deal with. Contacted *all* previous owners listed on passport (more were found when asking owners) all bar...

At a loss.. talented horse but no work ethic.

Becomes tense and locks the head, mouth and neck then depending on the situation will have some sort of way to say "no" It's hard to say what she does - she never does the same thing - sometimes it's just nodding of the head violently and smacking the lips and then sometimes it's leaping...

At a loss.. talented horse but no work ethic.

Sorry but I find this rather unfair. We bought her as a green horse with little schooling - she didn't mature mentally for about 3 years (typical of the breed) We didn't rush her at first and she went back to the basics for a couple of years - working overall to make her a bit more consistent...

Hey all commenting about PSSM - can I have some common symptoms and background info about it please? I am searching and this mare has none of the symptoms coming up. She has no problem with being forward or enthusiastic - in fact she's too forward the majority of the time - just running...
