Grey Arabs!
I cant help it. I've tried to stop the addiction by trying many other breeds and colours but nothing makes my heart happier than a beautiful grey arab :-)
I had a very burpy newfie, in fact once he had eaten his dinner he used to come up to me on the sofa and burp in my face. I like to think it was his way of saying thank you!
He did have a very sensitive stomach though and the only feed I found that kept him regularly and fart-free...
On work days the boy goes out at 5am but when its my day off ill be with him at about 9/10am (he is currently turned out 24/7 for the summer).
He always has ad-lib hay and is a chilled boy so doesnt fuss or bother. Sometimes when I try and turn him out in winter he turns around and tries to...
Hiya counterpoint, it is difficult to find yards with all year grazing and arenas but they are out there! Biggleswade saddlery website sometimes has adverts for yards, also there are facebook pages that are good like horsepoo (theres a cambridge and bedford one) that yards advertise vacancies on xx
Yes I had an arab who did a simliar thing when I changed his feed. Easiest thing is to change it back and see if she goes back to normal. Its amazing how much feed can effect behaviour.
I just changed my boys nuts, and boy did he go nuts lol not buying those ones again!
Wow thanks Sugar and Spice and Fuzzymooch you have certainly given me some things to think about and more confidence to go out and buy something second hand!
Thanks Sugar and Spice.
Your thoughts much mirror my own, all these new fangled things I just get the feeling a good old fashioned flocked saddle is the way forward. I like the idea of treeless very much but your advice has certainly made me think twice. My boy doesn't really wait around once...
I think speedibeet would definitely be a good thing to add to the feed, also if you can feed him smaller but more frequent feeds 3-4 times a day (I know this isnt always feasible with work etc) but it give his body time to process the feed your giving him.
Hiya
I have a horse who get a cough in winter and I HATED soaking his hay - think I always ended up wetter than the hay! So much lovely husband made my own steamer from a big dustbin and a wall paper steamer - its works a treat, and didnt cost the earth, and my horse didnt cough at all last...
Hiya
I'm sure most of us horsewomen have this issue in the beginning. I too married my hubby and was always around until i got horses a few years later. We definitely went through a rough patch, especially as my horse was a 45 minute drive away, which added to the time away from home. Now I...
I am tempted to clip already as when riding with half his winter coat the boy is getting very hot but I agree with Gloi that I might as well wait until it has all come through and save me doing it again next week! Bloody winter, my boy turns into a polar bear, such a thick coat. My house, home...
I have two experiences with polo/ex-polo ponies. One was an absolute gem to ride, extremely well behaved but came from a very very experienced horsewoman and was ridden, and schooled daily. The other was a polo pony bought by a very naive and inexperienced girl, the pony wasn't ridden enough and...
Hiya
I'm looking to replace my worn out saddle but it has been quite a few years since buying a new one, and the world of saddles seems to have come on quite far. With treeless and self-adjusting saddles, I'm at a bit of a loss.
My boy is a chunky Arab, and we really just do long distance...
