Anyone clipping yet?

I was thinking the same thing my ponies have moulted their summer coats very early this year, their winter ones have been coming through for sometime and they're getting hairy...:(

My cob nearly has his full winter coat. He hasn't stopped shedding at all since I got him in May! He's so fluffy. He won't be in work this winter so shouldn't need to clip him hopefully.

I work at a riding school and some of our ponies/ horses are hairy and some aren't . Had all of them been hairy we would start clipping now but weve decided to wait and then once they've all got a coat we will start trimming. I really hope we don't have a bad winter!

For August our days have been humid but our nights have dropped really cool, more cool than normal I'd say.

I've noticed my Connemara is a little fluffier than normal. Usually clip Oct/Nov but will totally depend on how warm he gets, his comfort etc.

I've noticed mine getting hairy much earlier that usual. Trimmed leg hair last night and nearly went all the way up rather than just fetlocks :(

The only reason I haven't clipped the furry beast yet is that the hair is growing so fast I'd have to do it again next week. Growing even faster than the lawn.

Im so tempted to clip mine, he is getting very fluffy. Im trying to hang on til the end of September, I really dont want to have to start rugging at night and knowing my luck, Ill clip him and then the night times will get really cold. Will have to see how it goes.

Mines starting to get hairy too, don't really want to clip until the end of September but will have to see how she goes. She can get very sweaty when ridden even when doing light work, will have to invest in some clippers sooner rather than later at this rate.

Im quite happy with my mares coat this year! Last year I had to clip her. She and my others are a bit warm but not sweating.

I am tempted to clip already as when riding with half his winter coat the boy is getting very hot but I agree with Gloi that I might as well wait until it has all come through and save me doing it again next week! Bloody winter, my boy turns into a polar bear, such a thick coat. My house, home, food and car are already covered in little white hairs. Ha ha at least he is always with me in a little way!
