    odd question re. clipping

What ever you wear - don't put it in the washing machine afterwards with any other washing and without shaking it off first! My husband was not impressed when his shooting breeks were covered in grey hairs last week! Ooops!!

potty TB has a splint, could do with some advice please.

As long as he is not lame you can continue to give him light work and cold hosing until the splint settles and goes cold and hard (new bone has formed), you will never get rid of the lump that forms but it shouldn't cause anymore problems as long as your horse is not still a developing...

Ex flat racers as competion horses

Be aware that if you buy, or get given, a racehorse, you must now by law register as the owner with Weatherbys. Forms can be downloaded from their website and it costs £11.50. Talking from the trainers point of view, this should be enforced by them anyway, but it safe guards them from having to...

Do you lunge your horse in boots?

You would get a fail mark in your BHS Stage II if you didn't say you would put brushing boots on all round for protection whilst lungeing.

    Lungeing advice please

Try borrowing a good rider and lunge her with someone on top who can ride her forwards and help you keep her trot active, once she has accepted this ask the rider to do less and less until you can take them off and hopefully she will continue to lunge without a rider. Good luck!

Dressage at East Soley Equestrian Centre near Lambourn is always good. Showjumping and dressage at Sparsholt College. Carron Roberts also does dressage in Wootten Bassett but I have not been there yet so not sure what its like. Good Luck!

    mares in season

There is a period of low sexual activity in mares throughout the winter months. However, some mares can continue to come into season all winter, it is not that uncommon, though it is sometimes more irregular than than in the spring when the longer daylight hours stimulate part of the brain and...

    problem circles

Most horses will find one rein more difficult to work on than the other. The rein you find that he falls in on is his stiffer side and by falling in he is avoiding having to hold himself balanced and correct. Use the lunge whip pointed at his shoulder and give him a flick on the shouldler when...

    Racing pictures

Hi, I'm a racing secretary from Lambourn, you need to find out where your mother's horses have won, at what tracks and on what dates. Racingpost.com will have that info. The racecourses may be able to help you track down the photographers which were at the track on those days. If they have not...
