    Horse lame day after fall

Thank you for sharing this I am hoping it is similar. She carried on for the rest of the session practising intro A and seemed fine but different story today. We will rest her up for a bit and see how she is later in the week

    Horse lame day after fall

Thanks both I will just keep an eyeon her for now. Reason for fall was an inexperienced rider and a clumpy surface just slipped and got her legs tangled. Rider went out of the front door and she couldn't recover her balance. Just a genuine and unfortunate set of circumstances really.

    Horse lame day after fall

My horse tripped and fell in the arena yesterday (sand and carpet ride), didn't get stuck on anything and had no problem getting up. She was fine after the fall and had no sign of lameness. Today she has come out the box fine in walk but obviously lame on the hind leg on the side she fell on...

Is Alfalfa making my mare loopy?

Thank you for your help. She is much, much calmer today after being off it for over 24 hours. Happier and getting back to her chilled pre Alfalfa incident, just feel very guilty now that I blew her brain!

Is Alfalfa making my mare loopy?

How long did it take after you withdrew it before you saw your boy calming down? I took it off her 24 hours ago and hoping we will start to see a change sooner rather than later as she is normally handled by my 12 year old son but is too unpredictable a the moment? Thanks!

Is Alfalfa making my mare loopy?

Thanks Circe, I have spoken to the YO and told him to expect that. Fortunately I am on a great yard with professional staff who will cope whilst she gets it out of her system. She was so good in schooling last night but back in her box she was kicking the door which is not like her. We turned...

Is Alfalfa making my mare loopy?

Thanks for the replies. Poor girl just looks wired when being handled. God bless her she is managing to hold it together in the school. We have taken her off it as of tonight and our trainer advised to turn her out over night to allow her to chill (she trashed her bed last night). Hopefully...

Is Alfalfa making my mare loopy?

I started to feed my very laid back mare Alfalfa plus oil alongside her normal serving of conditioning cubes about 10 days ago to put a bit of weight on her. She is exercised daily for between an hour and and hour and a half. In the last three days she has turned loopy. She barged out of her...

Best grooming tips to get a grey horse gleaming

Thanks all, lots of excellent tips which I will take on board. Very interesting re the keeping the brushes clean. I was taught to scrape the body brush across a metal curry twice after every two brushes ... so body brush, body brush, clean, clean. It amazes me how often you see people...

Lesson plans for beginner and missed building blocks

Thanks Shay, there is some really useful advice in there. I agree it looks like a change of RS is in order so will make it my priority this weekend and see if there is one with PC that she can join. She is very keen and understandably gets quite down that she doesnt feel she is making progress...

Lesson plans for beginner and missed building blocks

Thank you for everyone who has taken the time to reply, and with some excellent insight and information. She is in private and semi private lessons because she was formally in a group and they kept adding more and more kids into it. At one point there was 11 novice riders in a small indoor...

Hi - a bit of advice please. My daughter is 12 years old and has been taking twice monthly 30 min private lessons and twice monthly 30 min shared lessons with her friend who can only ride fortnightly. My daughter has been riding this way now for 14 months approximately and really enjoys it...
