    Irish Sport Equine

Anybody bought unseen direct from Gerty Tynan, Irish Sport Equine in the last couple of years? How was your experience. Was the horse as expected from the video when it arrived? Who vetted it for you. Thinking of taking the plunge as don’t have much time to trail up and down England looking for...

    Fly rug recommendations

I have a 14 hand little cob on loan who is on the slight side. He came with two fly rugs but both the neck holes are enormous on him and end up pulled back nearly over his withers. Looking for recommendations for fly rug with smaller neck hole which will fit higher up the neck.

Help with lights on Bateson Trailers

It doesn’t look obvious that you can but I think I’ll just have to be brave and give it a good tug

Help with lights on Bateson Trailers

I need to change the brake light bulb on Bateson Deauville trailer. It’s a newer model with the light cover that’s fastened on with screws. I’ve taken the light cover off but the brake bulb sits in a recess at the bottom of the internal fitting. I can’t see how you get the bulb out and...

    Saddle check and flock Derbyshire

Derbyshire seems to be the middle of no mans land for saddlers. I'm trying to get someone out to do a check and any necessary adjustments on a saddle that basically fits but that needs a bit of the flocking topping up. I usually use Debbie Richardson who I've found really good but she can't get...

I use Debbie Richardson. She's a master saddle fitter. She's based at Newark but does travel to Chesterfield - she's quite busy and you sometimes have to wait a while for her as she tries to fit several appointments in one area in for the same day. She's very good and I do have to say on the...

    Repeatable and trustworthy horse dealers

Yew Tree Farm Irish Sport Horses - bought a cob from them who was best horse I've ever owned and kept him there on livery so saw a lot of other horses come in and be sold on - if you're looking for a competition horse they might have one in (usually only have two or three in at once) but they...

    First hack alone tomorrow...

Remember horse tends to look where you do - so look to that horizon. Don't get peeping in those hedge bottoms on the look out for scary stuff or horse will too. Agree with the singing - when my youngster having a wobble - a long and boring rendition of 10 green bottles has a stupifying effect...

    DIY Livery Derbyshire

Does anyone know of any DIY livery yards/stables to rent that have direct access to good off-road riding (I'm based nr Cromford, Derbyshire) so Carsington/High Peak Trail type of area would be ideal but would be willing to travel reasonable distance to right yard if some assistance is available...

    Sweet itch or mange?

Could also be lice - have a good look to see if any dandruff is moving - top of the withers good place to look or top of the tail.

Won't move over when hacking down the road.

Would try leg yielding backwards and forward alot when there is no traffic about. May take you a long distance forward to get him over sidways to start with. Then as soon as he's at the side ask him to leg yield back out again to his comfort zone (this is his reward) - make sure you ask with a...
