He's 7 this year (only says 2010 in his passport). Yes that's him! I do have other pictures of him but none of him wearing tack. His old owner might do though as she had some on him too.
Thanks. Yeah unfortunately that's very true. He's been bitted, worn tack, and lunges well but due to pregnancy I am unable to back him so he stands unbroken for now. I bought him as a companion but my mare hates him and I can't have both pieces of land from now on so he needs to go... I'm so...
I'm selling my pony at the moment and was wondering what advice people could give me. It's a time-pressed matter (ideally need him gone before the end of September) and I'm wondering what else I can do to get the process moving. I've currently advertised him on horsemart, preloved, my local...
I think the term "bolting" is often greatly misused to exaggerate situations. The difference between bolting and "tanking off" is the element of choice. A bolting horse is fleeing blind, it makes no conscious choices, whereas a horse that tanks off can continue to make choices.
I bailed off...
I have never heard of coblet showing. I'll be following this thread because I am curious. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I remember seeing pictures of your boy all hogged out, he does look super smart!
I think it will probably be worth investing in some electric fencing. Just divide the field up so the horses are unable to injure each other, but they can still see each other so they aren't lonely. It's not worth your mare being injured all the time.
It is not your responsibility to bring in a horse that is not yours, especially if it's one which is likely to cause injury to you or your horse. It would be kind of you to do it, but it's definitely not unreasonable to say no.
If the other horse's owner cannot bring her horse in at a time...
Hacking is my absolute favourite. I love to go exploring on horseback, it's great bonding time, and you really get to know your horse's personality more than you ever could in an arena. It's also a great stamina builder. I think it's good to have that level of trust in your horse so that you can...
That's great! The little things really do count, good luck getting back in the saddle!
My little thing today was that the mare that I'm buying (rescuing!) in April followed me around her field trying to get cuddles when I visited her. I didn't even have food, it was just pure affection! I'm...
That does sound incredibly frustrating. I wonder why they don't just use the equipment or allow someone else to use it. Maybe you could all approach the YO in summer to try reason with them and get the arena maintained so it will be good for winter in the future.
Well done! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I know it must be so hard. I've suffered PTSD from a completely un-horse-related thing but I know how badly it can affect your life. It's good that you broke the ice and got on, and it's great that your YO went with you. If you can just keep up with it...
