So my ISH can be rather spooky...any advice?

Sorry my previous post should have said RS-tor. If you google RS-tor you'll find the firm's website with useful videos showing the gadget.

So my ISH can be rather spooky...any advice?

I don't know if the cysts are affecting his behaviour, it'd be wise to ask the vet. He's obviously over-reacting to stimuli so that may be an explanation. Horses are definitely more spooky when it's windy - I suppose they hear things unexpectedly; when it's very windy I don't ride my mare on...

So my ISH can be rather spooky...any advice?

I don't think your horse is "rather spooky"... he's very very spooky and he's putting you in some danger; and I don't believe giving a few carrots as treats explains his behaviour. I suppose you have already checked all the physical things such as his teeth, eyesight, back, saddle and girth...

    Hay feeder

The hay hutch costs about £200 thereabouts - best to buy the heavy duty plastic even though a bit dearer. Check out their website for exact price. I wouldn't put a round bale into it because a bale would be too heavy to lift into it and it would supply too much hay in one go; not sure if your...

    Hay feeder

I've used a hay hutch for several winters now and I think it's brilliant. The lid means the hay doesn't get wet from rain or snow, the multiple feeding holes mean that two (or more) horses can happily share it, the hay doesn't get blown away in the wind, horses feed from it in a natural position...

Help!! Bumps on my horses back?

I always change my numnah every day. Yes it means putting it in the washing machine every day for a 35 minute wash, but that's no problem. I have 4 numnahs so there are always one or two available. I started changing the numnah every day after my horse developed a lump on her back and we thought...

Do you wear a body protector when out hacking?

I had just got to the point when I figured that I could ride safely without the BP, because my young mare behaves very well these days, so why not go without in this nice hot weather? Then last Saturday I tried out a brand new girth with a revolutionary design, recommended by somebody on this...

    Horse droppings on the road!

I was astonished this week because somebody complained that my mare was making a mess on the country lane near her field. I explained that the horse tends to produce droppings very shortly after setting off on a hack so it's inevitably going to happen on this lane. The dung tends to get...

    Anyone used saddles direct?

Yes, I sold my Albion K2 saddle through them last year. I got a fair price for it and they sold it reasonably quickly.

Where to find an Albion K2 jump saddle second hand?

Try the Saddles Direct website. I sold my K2 through them last year.

is a hay hutch worth it?

I've used a hay hutch for three years and it works really well. The field is on a very exposed hillside in the Peak District and it gets the wind so I have put a small bag of gravel in it to weigh it down. It is the large size (can't see the point of anything smaller) and it feeds haylage to one...

    recommend a good girth please

My mare didn't really like the Wintec girth and I have changed to a 'Professional's Choice girth. They are an American firm but they do English style girths as well as Western. The girth cost £50 and it features a long thin neoprene pad which is velcroed onto a nylon strap. It is stretchy at...

    Stirrups for rubbish (human) joints!!

Sprengers bow balance irons are brilliant. They are even more expensive now than when I bought mine (probably cos the pound has plunged in value) and it probably seems mad to spend so much on a pair of irons, but I find they are miles better than anything else I've tried. Not only do they...
