£2000 - What Calibre Of Youngster Can I Get?

I'm currently mulling over the idea of buying another youngster. I already have a 2yo filly who, if i'm honest, was very much a pity buy and I wasn't actually on the lookout for a youngster.

I was thinking of perhaps loaning a pony, thinking ahead for the winter, as a constant companion for my girl. However then thought it might be a better idea to buy another that I can have and let mature while I work with my filly for the next few years, and i do love having youngsters as I find them very rewarding. I don't really have the time to give to be at the yard all day everyday when I've had ridden horses in the past and find it a lot easier to keep babies.

What does everyone think I could get for £2000? I know the market isn't brilliant at the moment so wondered whether now would be the time to buy or wait until winter kicked in? I'm open to anything from weanling - 3yo. Is a nicely bred PRE or chunky Warmblood realistic?
Despite having bought a youngster before there wasn't really a huge thought process behind it - I saw her and bought her. I spent very little on her in comparison so want everything to be 100% this time around, so any advice is appreciated.

I get the feeling it's going to be quite a lengthy process. I've seen a colt I like and he's stuck in my head but not sure what others would think of him.
I think a connie would be too small for me. I'm hoping to get something that will make 16hh+ as my girl is going to be the littley, she's only due to make 15hh-15.2hh and might still be too small then.

OP there's a nice grey filly (Dia NG) on there too in your budget. :)

For 2000 I would go for a yearling as obviously that extra year of care you are going to pay for. I payed slightly more at 2500, for a filly out of a 24 times grand prix winning stallion with an amazing dam as well she is a russian warmblood x hanovarian. Also the market is yours at the moment so go see a few over budget as you may be able to get a little more for you money :)

I think a yearling might be better that I'll perhaps be able to compete to a higher level than my current girl who, although lovely and stuck with me til the end, won't be much more than RC all rounder I don't think. Luckily for me she more than makes up for it with her character and temperament.

I'm just looking at buying a 3yo Dutch warmblood x for £1200. I have the same price range as you and I'm quite surprised at what you can get for it !

I'm surprised at the quality of horse that I can get so far! I've had quite a few messages and it seems there are a lot of young warmbloods etc up for sale under my budget.
