£40..... Derby House Limited Edition Heavyweight Combo

Naf! Had a derby house rug a few years ago which lasted really well, had 3 this year and 2 broke within an hour of turnout with the metal clips at the front on 2 very different types of horses and adjusted correctly. The third is in several pieces after the front broke which spooked horse into a fence where he ripped off the belly strap and wrapped rug round his legs. After 10/minutes gallop work there isn't much to repair. Decided not try again with Derby House even though the price is tempting.

I bought a fleece from Derby House 6 weeks ago. It is now ripped. It has been worn only in the stable by a pony who keeps her rugs in perfect (other than being a little dirty) condition! Never again :o

Yeah the price is tempting. Thanks for the feedback.

Was looking at it as a spare.....

I have just received mine today. Still in bag and not near a horse yet but looks nice enough. Though my horse is generally very good at taking care of his rugs. He's a wuss of a tb and I thinkhe appreciates them lol

I was very disappointed tbh as previously they have been good but it seems that the actual metal work of the clips is very weak this year, one horse only walked to the field and the clip snapped! Fabric is good, they are waterproof but mine don't like the open chested versions !

Save your money DH rugs are crap. They have the most horrid leg straps and the fit is not good. I bought a couple of TO rugs and really wished I'd not wasted my money even though they were in the sale too.

My MW derby house turnout is great! Agree about the clips at the front, they are flimsy - one of mine broke mid way into last winter so I just replaced with a heavier duty clip from an old worn out muzzle I had. I would still buy again as quality is fair other than the clip issue..... No leaks or tears which is the most important thing!

I've got this rug & it fits my welsh cob beautifully. He's put a couple of small rips in it, but he's out in a group of 9 that includes 2 youngsters & so quite a bit of playing goes on. One thing I really like about it is it has chest buckles rather than clips :)

I was a huge fan and as my pony grew again got a load more but as others have said this lot have had both front clips sheer off and rips to the rugs left right and centre!

I've got one of the DH middleweight combos, but went for the 1200 denier one for just a bit more money. It's fantastic - has never leaked even in torrential rain. And this horse's first move when she gets in the field is to roll in the muddiest part of the field, several times. Mine's great - no complaints from me with it.

ive got it, really pleased with it - bought a size up though and it fits well (normally 6ft 6 but large shoulders so got 6ft 9) also bought the ltd edition tartan - again really pleased - good fit and again went up a size - rain literally beads off them and they are really warm as almost like fluffy duvet so trap warmth. Only downside is tartan one already has a clip broke ! would not pay full price but v pleased for what I paid !

I got the 1200D LW combo this summer and i'ts one of the best rugs I have bought. So waterproof, fab fit and really nice quality. I've just bought the 1200D MW combo for £50 and it is really nice, i'm really happy.

My mum has a couple of 600D ones, the LW is on it's 3rd year now and has started to leak and the MW has lasted really well (4 yrs)and is still waterproof but the clips at the front have broken but they are just tied up with string now, it's still a fully functioning rug.

I think they are good rugs but I would splash out the extra tenner for the 1200 denier one.

I have the 1200 denier one, got it to replace an older 600 denier one. I've been very happy with them all - I did change the clips though. Pie's been out in his new one in all this torrential rain and is still dry and toasty under it. I wouldn't be too happy to pay full price for them but half price is fine.

I've just bought a heavyweight combo in the sale. Supposed to be £120. Three days in and half the ponies mane has been rubbed out and her stifles rubbed raw. Fuming. Not only is she now at a detriment as she was to be shown in hand at the beginning of the season but she is only 21 months old and now very reluctant to have a rug on. She is buckling her back legs when I try to put a different one on and kicking out. She is now out without a rug.
