Would you pay £42 for a 3/4 of an hour dressage lesson? I currently have weekly lessons with my instructor at £30 an hour but have been offered the opportunity to have regular lessons with an international dressage rider but not sure if it is worth it at that price seeing as me and my horse aren't very good at flatwork! lol

I'd pay that with the lady I use if and when I have a horse ready/fit or it.

Perhaps go to one and see how you get on? To be honest I find they key is find an instructor that suits you and your horse thens tick with them, whatever their level or charge.

A good instructor can make huge differences so it's worth the effort to find them.

At the £30 + mark though I can only afford them once a month if that.

I pay £40 for 40mins with a very good dressage trainer once a month, and it is really worth as i come away with lots to work on, and my horse has improved loads since i've changed over to her. I think if you get a lot of the lesson then it's worth it.

I was paying £40 for a lesson with an excellent trainer. It was worth it, my horse never went better.

He has moved house now, though so I don't see him any more but I have heard that he has also put his prices up even more!

I used to pay £60 a go, monthly, with a really excellent instructor at my old yard. But it didn't matter that I didn't do weekly ones - she was good enough to to be able to give me exercises that would be really useful when I WAS riding, which was 2 times a week.

I pay £40 for a 30-45minute lesson. I have these at my yard every fortnight, then I have a lesson with my yard owner once a week for £10 (mates rates!) for 30 minutes, or as long as necessary, as she watches my lesson and also trains with the same person, so can carry on with me along the same lines. It is expensive but well worth it.

I pay that sort of money for a normal lesson but I'm in the SE so probs not the best person to ask. And I'm quite happy to pay it too
