Someone called me yesterday asking if we had any haylage for sale. Said unfortunately we don't but suggested the name of a supplier who might be able to help. She told me that this supplier is wanting £55 a bale. I was gobsmacked.

Luckily we make all our own haylage so can ensure we have enough for our liveries even though we are using far more than normal. Was just wondering how others are getting on finding haylage and are the prices being asked ridiculous?

a fairly big square bale is £50 and i think the big round ones are £65 £70 I don't use it as my horse won't eat it but i know other liveries are struggling to pay the prices

40 delivered here for 250kg good quality. But unless things change dramatically, god knows what it will be next year.

i don tbuy haylege anymore but when i did (last year) it was £20 for a smallish round bale (lasted a greedy get 2/5 weeks)...

i now buy hay and even that,s £50 a bale - but this bale atm is lovely stuff :)

i remember the days when hay was £1.75 a small bale and straw was £1.25!!

:(

largeish square bale of haylage was costing my yard (hampshire) £55/60 per bale!
they got thru 1 bale every 1 1/2 days - about 22 horses eatting it

We pay £45 for a big square bale and I have a horrid feeling it will go up again in the autumn :(
I know last summer was a really bad year for cutting hay etc but I cant keep affording the price increases. My wages have not gone up for 4 years :(

I've just come back into horses after a good few years break, for some reason thinking hay would still be about the £1.75 a bale, quick reality check on getting first livery bill
