Oh dear, knew it would happen eventually, I have had my 510 for about 13/14 years with practically no expense. Had a call from the dealers servicing it to say it needs a new floor plus 2 tyres and other odds and ends, total £860- ouch. Then it needs new ramps and panels next year, which will also be many £100s... I did have a little think about whether it was better to trade in, but don't really fancy a 511 for £4300 or a second hand one which might also have issues so have decided to patch mine up and apparently she should then be good for another 10+ years. Still ouch though!

when you consider how long you have had your trailer to be honest that isnt to bad say what £60 roughly even could be less for each year that you've had it for what your getting done at the moment, if its going to last you a long time once everything has been done then its well worth it compared to the price for a new or second hand trailer

Think of it this way - you've had the work done so you know it's done. Same as buying a second hand car, you don't know what horrors are hidden on someone else's trailer. More hassle getting it fixed but at least there's peace of mind.

Maybe that's why none of our cars are less than 8 years old...

Ouch, similar thing happened to me a few years ago but I had just bought the trailer and it was only 4 yrs old!! It was an IW that needed a new floor and sides, it was over £600 then. I traded it in for a new one as they offered me £1500 in part ex. New trailers were £2800 then so worth doing.

Thanks I feel much better now! I did know it was the right decision really; heck I need my trailer anyway.. Ooh Louby, that wasnt good, needing a new floor at 4 years, how unfortunate. Sounds like you made a sensible move there..

I know, was gutted but more fool me, they had washed it all out and I thought how nice of them, truth was, they had to wet it all to cover up the wet patches that were there all down each side of the floor!
Apparantly the year I bought had been recalled due to a problem with the sides letting water in, typically mine hadnt gone back to be repaired free of charge. Think it was a 1996 model.

It's definately worth the money you're spending on it... I know someone with one that is 25 + years old and still going strong - had new floors etc obviously but the chassis and structure really do last. worth theirweight in gold. I love my 510.

Louby I can't believe how dishonest people are, to sell a trailer with an undeclared, known bad floor! F.G.S. is any amount of extra money enough to have to live with a guilty concience and risk someone else's horse's life? Obviously must be for some people :-(
CBFan I am with you there, my 510 has taken me hunting and hacking twice a week minimum for many years and it is so solid and easy to tow. The new ones look nice but not 'agricultural' enough for me; the panels look flimsy and I noticed at a show there was a notice in one 506 or 511... can't remember which.. not to tie horses to the jockey door area as its not strong enough..
