£90 for flu / tet jabs - does this seem expensive?

The visit was £50 and the vaccine was £40 (including VAT).
Not that there's anything I can do because we only really have 2 vets in our area and the vets themselves at this practice are absolutely fantastic. I guess you get what you pay for.
Just wondering what everyone else pays.
 
I suppose it depends on whereabouts in the country you are- but price sounds ok to me!- (I pay about £45 call out and about £33 inc VAT for Flu/Tet Vaccinations)
 
It cost me about £150 back in March to have 4 of mine done. I think the call out itself was about £40, so that leaves £110 divided by 4 = £27.50 per horse. So if it was for just one horse, I wouldn't have been pleased at paying more that £70 all in.
 
I was quoted £180 for one equine and that was 10yrs ago (needless to say as they could not guarentee what strain of flue would be the next to strike and whether Amber would be protected against it I did not go ahead!)
 
If it includes a call-out fee it seems fine to me as well - we used to try to get all the yard horses with the same vet done at the same time - and shared the call-out between us.
 
Mine was £110 for 2 the other week. We should of shared a call out charge with my friend, but her bill was £60+ so I think they stung us both with it:mad:. Keep meaning to phone for a copy of the invoice, as we just pay the vets on site and they just phone the office to get the amount.
 
I was not happy about spending 50 euros for call out and vacine, now really happy as compared to those prices its a bargain. He will also give horse a thorough check up as well.
 
That is expensive IMO. I've just paid £31.72 for FT jab. 20.48 for jab, 6.72 for callout (1/2 chanrge as call split between 2 of us) and 4.72 VAT.
 
Used a vets with a call out zone 2 weeks ago, you got a call half an hour before vet was due to arrive and had to pay at time of call, I was very happy that it only cost £26.50 for the flu/tet, so really wouldn't be impressed at some of the prices that have been charged on this thread
 
I think it depends where you are and which vets you use. I am in Devon. I use equine vets for very important things and general vets for jabs. So yes, in my opinion, £90 is extortionate!
 
My vets, in the North East charges less than £14 for the actual vaccine. call out is £30 ish I think. We got a microchip, passport and initial vaccs done for just under £75 last week. I think they broke it down as £60 for the microchip and passport application and £15 for the vaccine, but the actual bill showed the vaccine as less so we are in credit!
 
I pay around £14 to £22 for the actual vaccine depending what the vet has in stock and availability, its £25 call out and a couple of quid time plus vat so around £50-£60. With three horses now, I would have a fit if it cost £90.
 
I paid £80 for jabs, call out and teeth check and rasp. Oh, and he took a wolf tooth out at the same time! So £90 sounds steep to me
 
Does sound a bit pricey to me. Last year I had an emergency 9am call out, examination, sedative injection, buscopan injection, blood taken and tested in house and results the same day all for £140.
 
OMG it is so expensive to keep horses in England!!

I just paid £70 for 3 boosters incl. call out here in Northern Ireland
 
we have zone days so no call out fee. Before that came in I used to put the pony in the trailer, drive the 10 miles to the surgery, and the vet would do him in the trailer with the front ramp down.:cool: Ramp up and home in under 40 min.
