Not sure if anyone has seen the post doing its rounds on Facebook, for those that haven’t a horse was found 6:50am on the 26th and the owner still hasn’t been located yet (9:30am 27th Dec) it’s made me think about labelling up my horse and how people would get her back to me if she went missing!

What do others do with theirs?

Post incase you’ve missed it;

Looks like she’s in a newish Amigo rug, they aren’t cheap, and the post mentioned she looked well cared for. Strange that her owners haven’t surfaced yet though, perhaps they’re away for Christmas.

It’s a really strange situation! I hope it’s a happy ending and not an unwell owner somewhere with an escaped horse!
I’m going to add my contact info to my horses rug, not something I’d considered doing before, but it has certainly made me pause and think!

I'm pretty sure I'd miss mine within a few hours if they had escaped. The neighbouring houses have my number, so I can't imagine It would happen to me.

There's been a few escapees locally lately. It's a pretty common event. This one was news because the owners didn't claim her for days.

My money’s on the owners being away for Christmas (or still hungover) and their horses being looked after by incompetents who can’t count how many horses they are supposed to be looking after.
My friend left her Shetland at home with FIL, its escaped and he said he contacted everyone including the local large animal charity. It didn't get it back until there was a piece in the local newspaper about the Shetland that had not been claimed from the same animal charity.

I don't know the full details in this case but I've had an arranged freelancer not turn up and not tell me - thankfully, friends at the yard clocked as I was miles away. When you think what could have happened ...

I'm going to get another Equine QR code tag - I have bridle and saddle one's for when I'm out riding - as that can easily be updated with contact details & stick it on a rug, from now on I think.
