Hello,
My horse is stabled at night but goes outside during the day where he throws himself in the mud alot. :) as I have a lot to do and the days get shorter I am thinking about rugging him with a 0g. To prevent him from getting dirty and also helping him mantain weight (hes 12). Would that be a good idea? One year i had him in 100g but have already rugged in September.

Thank you

I can't see why not? Mine is a partially clipped hairy cob and is out 24/7 in a 0g. He's just fine. I can't even cope with the thought of how much mud there would be if I didn't rug him - you will get lots of different opinions but FWIW I don't think there's anything wrong with putting a thin rug on to keep them clean to ride.

You said yours is hairy, and if he's only 12, in at night, and adequately fed with no underlying health conditions, I can't imagine that he would lose weight in a 0g. (That is assuming you're in the UK where it's wet and relatively mild - if you're in Europe where it's much colder then others will be much better placed to answer than I am!). Just keep an eye on the rug to make sure it's not getting soaked through in repeated rain, 0g rugs can wet out faster than thicker ones.
