1.5m electric fence posts recommendations!

Hi

I have been offered some grazing in a friends field, however they recently planted lots of new trees around the edges of the field and so I am going to be very cautious and put electric fencing within the field to keep ponios off the said new, lovely, very expensive trees! Have always just used 3 foot tape on pigtail electric posts, but am thinking I need to go bigger, and use the 1.5m posts! Does anyone have any experience of using these, and if so who would you recommend I buy from? I have seen some on Screwfix, which look value for money. Many thanks!

I always use talll posts I use the Brown Gallagher ones I use google them and see who’s good value .
I also get Gallagher stuff on eBay I don’t really buy any other brand of electric fence stuff .

Have used them with wider tape. I didn"t really like them as the wind would sometimes push them over.

I never use tape it’s just not safe up here

Do you use rope? Have wondered if it may be better as we are on windy hill!

Thanks for eveyone's replies We are in the bottom of a small, steep sided valley and the field is protected from the wind by high hedges so tape is fine. Its a shame, if the trees were mature I wouldn't be worried, infact it would be fantastic field in about ten years time! I just cant afford to replace what is probably somewhere in the region of several thousands of pounds of trees (there are alot....) Will go and look on ebay at the Gallagher fencing.

I always found www.electricfencing.co.uk to be incredibly helpful and competitively priced, but very sturdy and good quality equipment.

I always use the narrow tape, with a copper conductor and check the resistance. Most tapes only have the same amount of conductors no matter how wide the tape, with the narrow tape they are more likely to touch one and get a zap.

The web site is very clear and grades the tape, which is useful when comparing other brands. They are a good price too.
My two year old is now 15.2, so I have had to invest in tall posts and I just bought cheap ones which seem just as good as some of the others I have bought.
I live in the flat fens, thin tape catches the wind less, but I do almost a daily check for wind rock of the posts when the wind is bad.
