1 horse on 1 acre field.

Perfectly manageable, poo pick 2 x per day and feed hay all year round. Better than on 10 acres of un-managed poops everywhere.

I've got to disagree with this, sorry. I have twelve acres I give free range to two or three horses on. It's clear after twenty five years of managing this way that they have defined poo areas where they do not eat. Over time, those poo areas change, and after several years they are brought back into the eating area again.

Meanwhile, of course, I am spared the task of poo picking and my horses have a lovely big area to move around in. Their favourite game is to gallop from one corner to the other and back again. I love to see them with that freedom to move.

Ycbm - my experience is the same with poo areas. 3 horses on 11 acres and they only poo in 2 areas. I top, Harrow and roll come spring and all is great. The small paddocks that the ridden two are on never fair quite so well (3 paddocks just under 2 acres each) and end up mud pits despite being better drained.

ETA - the chickens and wild birds love the poo areas and scatter it pretty well

ETA 2 - with bigger field you don't have your heart in your mouth when they hoo.n either. For their safety or the ground
