One of the boy's sharers has just finished her vet degree and has until 5th July when she goes back to hong kong. Unfortunately this hasn't timed well with her BHS gold membership which ends in a few days but I'm struggling to pick up a sensible short term option I had a look a while ago. We've not seen her for the last couple months as she's been knee deep in exams but I'd like her to be enjoy the last few weeks she has with us and take her on a few trips out.

Any suggestions?

When going to renew there should be an option to pay by monthly DD or a single annual installment, you should be able to cancel the DD at any point

But surely it’s like a 12 month contract just with a monthly repayment option? Though she will be out the country then 😅

I think it’s ok to do that surely? Especially if it’s a continuation of an existing policy but paid monthly rather than yearly.
I’ve been paying a different policy monthly and have just had to cancel way before the year was up and it was no problem.

Be a bit careful if you do go new as some don’t provide any cover for the first few weeks (although not sure if that applies to 3rd party)

I had a look at both e+l now animal friends google finds PDFs of their rider insurance but they no longer seem to exist as an option on the website and horse insurance requires you to enter a horse too. I wonder if now there are a few membership options for better PL insurers have stopped covering it. I have an accident policy with a company that will do short term cover but for horse riding they don't do PL for that.

Its the same with the cycling I get more PL cover with a membership than I do with my cycle insurer.

Have you tried Petplan? BHS is definitely sadly for 12 months regardless of how you pay it and they don't refund either.

Owner has 2 horses, I share one and this person was sharing the other until she went into full revision mode, no owners doesn't cover. I've been surprised on my travels how many options there are that do do that now - its been a good while since I actually insured a horse, stopped Frank's at 19 and moved to BHS membership at that point.

Yeah I think I've tried all the usuals TP - I said I'd look as she wouldn't know where to start with it. Best option so far is harry hall, £57 with a £10 voucher that's hopefully transferable 🤣🤣. I just thought there might be a less well known option I was missing.

BHS is a yearly policy, I went to cancel mine as I pay by DD but they said I basically couldn’t until the policy ends next year

Does joining a local riding club/pony club not give you PL cover? I am sure it used to and would be a pretty cheap way to get it.
