I'm devastated!

they were an xmas present and i'd suspected for a couple of weeks they were leaking but was proved right when i took them off today and my socks were soaking (they got wetter than usual today due to snow)! i clean and condition them every 10days - surely the waterproofing isnt gone already?? ive got water repeller that i bought for my UGG boots thats really good but im in two minds whether to put it on as if they are defects i a) wont realise until the repeller wears off and b) if i send them back and dubarry test them they may not believe me?

i cant see any holes - i think its coming through between the sole and the shoe (a friends did this but after a year but the leather actually came away from the sole). also the leather on the sole inside is rolling/peeling as though theyve been getting wet for a while.

has this happened to anyone else? have i done something to cause this?

Send them back, for how much they cost that shouldn't be happening. Then get Grasmeres instead

I know a friend who got some for christmas and hers are leaking. Not sure what she has done about it. Was really dissapointed. Maybe a fault with them. Would get in touch with them.

Went to Burghley Horse Trials last year and they were standing in mud and water to sell them. If yours can't withstand it then either they are faulty or have been missold. Send them back and if no positive response then make a formal complaint.

they def shouldn't be leaking! Ive had mine years and use them A LOT and providing you look after them, they should never leak - its prob a fault they should def send you some new ones!

Can't believe yours leak!

I have been through mud, water, snow and when I first got them I team cleaned whilst cleaning out the lorry to make sure they didn't leak!!! I don't even treat mine and neither has mine husband and he's had his 4 years.

Don't be disheartened.

Send them back, Dubarry will be mortified and will replace them as they don't do the job as advertised and they don't like to be proved wrong

Yeh mine are just as useless totally unwearable and dubarry really couldnt have cared less when i took them back at suffolk show!! they told me i should BUY some cleaner, i think not!! I agree with buying a pair of grasmeres though best boots i have ever had!!

I bought a pair about 8 years ago when they were relatively 'new'. I hardly ever clean or treat them. I ride in them, muck out in them (now - not when they were new and sparkly!) and still walk through water jumps to test the depth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have NEVER had wet feet.

Was going to invest in a new pair this year, but you are now putting me off!! Maybe the quality is not what it was?

Anyone else had great ones for years and then been disappointed by the new replacements? Would be interested to know before I buy!!

They are no longer made in Ireland - they come from Portugal now and are just marketed as being 'Irish'

you have just saved me a lot of money I was going to buy some this weekend... I wont be doing that now!

Thanks Thistle!
Don't know if Portugal is good on quality or not, but at least I know they are not the same article I bought 8 years ago!!!

grr!! sounds like have they're starting to have the same quality issues as Hunter!

They are still leaking so it wasnt a one-off sadly. the leather at teh seam where it joins the sole is very very dark like its permanently holding water, i still cant see a hole though. i'll call them tomorrow and let you know what the outcome is!
