Well, 1.02 euros to be exact. Shocking stuff, not that long ago you could still calculate it at around 1.5 euros for a pound! Guess it will mean less people buying in europe and looking to UK-bred and produced horses!
Pity us ex-pats changing pounds to euros it means my vet and farrier bills have gone up by 30% in less than 6 months.
I am delighted that it is good news for British Breeding - I assume you mean our TB's, Cleveland Bays, Irish Draft and crosses known as hunter types when a warm blood didn't exist?
Of course the chickens will come home to roost eventually. It is good for exports but bad for imports - sadly as Britain makes very little even importing milk on a daily basis there won't be much in the way of savings long term. Although of course Mr. Brown has reduced VAT on such imported essentials as TV's and white goods!! - prudent as ever.
Yep your are right. You must be about my age - remember PM Callaghan going to IMF for a BIG loan when Britain was almost bankrupt? In those days it was embarassing to take a holiday on mainland Europe - we were so poor - the French loved it!!
