because the gov. cannot be prosecuted for Corporate negligence or corporate manslaughter in the same way the rail companies could be prosecuted after Potters Bar.

similarly the corporations can be made to pay compensation for the stress, injuries and losses of people killed and injured by the event

for F&M all that is paid is a price per animal slaughtered and nothing for the stress and suicides and heart attacks and ill health caused by the incompetent handling of the issue by Defra (formerly maff)

I think you will find that if you (as a person) released the foot and mouth virus it would be classed as an act of terrorism. The penalty to this variant. They are still unsure which of the labs it came from. I am sure there will be an enquiry (at tax payers expense) and alot of spin to come!!

It is possible nowadays to sue a Government department however all that will be reasonably expected is compensation for the loss of the cattle, nothing more.
