1 Swallow does not make a Summer ... but one warm rugless day ...

.... makes my Cushings Horse start to shed his coat properly

Up til now if you gave his coat a pull some hair would come out but not much .... he is very very very hairy

.... but today I turned him out without his rug and Hey Presto, tonight it was coming out so well that as I pulled the hairy bits between his legs it came out easily and he just stood there 'smiling' ...... he normally objects if I try and 'pull' any attached hair ......

Unfortunately he only had a trace clip this year, so it will now take until about June/July to get rid of the clip lines and then it will be ready in August for his nice Winter coat to come through

PS I saw a Swallow on Sunday as well

I noticed the swallows too - always a promising sign. The swifts will be next and then you know summer really is only around the corner

Yes I recall your plight with your Cushings Horse ..... he has the typical curly coat that mine had when he was first diagnosed, however the Pergolide seems to have sorted that one out

. Is your boy on Pergolide?

LOL hes lovely but is he half yetti Ive never seen such a hairy boy.I clipped mine in the autumn ( you saw his pics the chestnut with funny markings on his face)and he still hasnt had any new growth .He looks a right sight with the one clipped leg from surgery and bald patches for the ga and drip.

My cushings mare is shedding great clumps too but she squeals & stomps off if I try to pull them. She has also got a huge beard, like a goat but worse... She really is 1/2 TB under there, honest... altho she only looks it when she's been clipped out!!

No he isnt on pergolide not had a blood test yet to confirm it

Catembi ... My boy is a squealer and when I let him have his quota of grass every evening he runs off squealing his little heart out .... I must put the vid on PB as it is soooooo cute

Gembob ... please be so very very very careful of the grass and that he does not go down with the dreaded Laminitis, as that was the nightmare that I was faced with and that is when he was diagnosed with Cushings ..... and his coat is the tell tell sign ... please do not get caught out

hes in a bare school with loads of well soaked hay with another lami prone plod so unfair on im hes got his mask tho so he can go out with the rest for full summer turn out and he will have his mask on from 12 pm till 6 am unfair but no hoof no horse!

Hi eaglestone .He has improved but seems to have one good day and one bad which is to be expected now the workload has increased.I have to keep riding him to encourage the fusion.The vets out on 13 th but he is a bit sore at the moment might give him some danilon in the morning.Daughters horse is in a mess at the mo the tri cob you liked brought her in last night lots of heat in fetlock and swelling.I hope its nothing to serious hopefully bruising and not tendon or ligament doesnt look very good fingers crossed.My daughter is devasted incase she cant do pc camp and they have just started competing .They had 2 seconds last weekend such a shame really good combination.She adores this pony just had another year offered with her as well.
