My horse is turned away for winter but when checked has been weeping slightly in 1 eye for last 2 days. Just regular weeping, nothing that looks like a proper infection. Ideas anyone? Only had her since June, she wore fly mask all summer so no eye trouble or weeping. It's probably the wind and maybe a slight infection - how would you treat? Her eyelid is slightly weird anyway, looks like it is missing a little but which makes me think that the wind is catching her eye... Bt how do I stop this? I'm thinking it's prob a blocked tear duct - and no pain, no swelling, no signs of conjunctivitis, etc which is why I've not called the vet

I have a 16.2HH Big Welsh lad and one of his eyes weeps.. permanently. I have had it looked at and he has no infections or no serious problems.. Basically all it is is a runny eye.. Pain in the summer with the flies but all i can do is clean it regularly and wipe away the gunk on his face. Hope it is nothing and if it is, that you can get it sorted easily :)

Ok fab everyone, thank you. Cold teabags first, and when vet is on routine visit soon will also have her look, probably just a blocked tear duct. Thanks all

Just to add quickly - my vet advised against tea, preferring 1 teaspoon of salt to a pint of warm, boiled water. Worked well when my horse had a weepy eye.
Also, try to use a muslin cloth or similar with long fibres, so you don't end up with bits in the eye, if you are wiping it. xx
